Depending on your reference points and preferences, the GT3T can be too loud, just right, or too quiet. For me, its at a noise level that Im happy with for daily use and occasional long trip.
The R is louder. It helps add to the specialness but I wouldnt want to use it daily or many long trips.

Although I wouldn't say I'm disappointed, I do find myself scratching my head when I read those posts. My Touring is a 2019, as well, one of the last to arrive in the states, so perhaps you're onto something.

Have an Akra center only on my Touring, and it may be the perfect balance between quiet (valves closed) and not so quiet (valves open). Suits the Touring well. Can't imagine not having it... far too modest exhaust note for such a magnificent N/A 500 HP machine.
