the only time to know if its a problem is when a warranty claim is submitted and the bill goes to Porsche, of course the claim has to be related to the modification eg exhaust valves. I have been told Porsche dealers flag cars with mods, including aftermarket exhausts.
the risk here seems so low that it should not be a concern but the risk exists however low.

I would tread lightly depending on the model.
991.1 - Only consider cat back exhaust modifications to enforce the extended warranty.
991.2 - Should be fine with headers/cats as long as any warranty issues are not related to them.

Yes...just know as a fact... call Porsche Cars North America...but the warranty is with Porsche not the dealer. The dealer may not care about headers but if there is engine or transmitter trouble the dealer does not decide if the engine is fixed/replaced...Porsche decides and they will send out a Zone rep to look the car over.
I have spoke with Zone reps and called Porsche N. America about this....and back in 2010 had to fix a cracked weld on a header cat on a new 2009 with cat back Tubi exhaust the dealer installed and Porsche did not want to replace header under warranty.
This ordeal went on at Bert Smith Porsche....service manager explained the warranty needs to be approved with Porsche North America not us (dealer).
Porsche North America Zone rep came out and I met him at the dealership to discuss. Zone rep Porsche NA said due to free flow exhaust changed back pressure thus the change in heat in the exhaust mainifold air fuel mixture from ECU to compensate for change and the aftermarket mufflers adding stress to the exhaust mainifold Porsche NA denies warranty.
Luckyly this was a $2500 fix and not engine trouble $40k fix!

I have a 991.1 and I'm considering going with some catted Dundons.
I asked the Service Manager/Shop Foreman at my local Porsche store and he said it would not effect my warranty. He did say to stay away from software.

Be careful of catted - the cats are known to break down and be injested - leads to engine failure and your warrenty will be denied - I know of one person this has happened to in recent times.

Are you making a joke about a feline animal getting into the engine compartment and being sucked into the intake?
Catalytic converter guts can indeed eventually break down. But how do you imagine that material might be ingested into the engine? Backwards up through the headers? Against flow AND against gravity? You're smoking crack.

The problem with failed cats is usually related to partial blockage of the exhaust which leads to excessive back pressure. Much more of an issue with ceramic monoliths, which can also melt, than metal substrates like Alpha 4 or whatever is in use today.

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act prohibits a manufacture from denying warranty coverage merely because an aftermarket part(s) is on the car. The manufacture has the burden to prove that the aftermarket part caused the problem for which warranty coverage is sought.
