Laguna Seca gt2rs sound limit tips?
Curious if anyone can fill me in on what the OEM car hits for sound at Laguna.
Does it help to keep the exhaust baffles closed? Pdk sport seems to also open the baffles.
Any other tips? There is a lot of info for gt3/gt3rs but haven't found much of anything for the gt2rs. No silencers, etc, likely given how the factory exhaust is made.

hard to make sound at laguna in stock gt3/rs - lift heavily between turn 5 and 6 and short shift - there are two sound limit days - 90 db and 92 db - with out some tips, exhaust mods, or gps exhaust nanny it’s likely you will get black flagged for sound unless you are very disciplined at lifting appropriately on track.
good luck!
sorry just noticed this is GT2/RS - not sure they are any better, but so few of them I don't personally have a lot of data, but unless their reputation is that they are quite a bit less loud than GT3's or GT3-RS's I'm not sure they would fair any better…
I'd love to watch this thread to see what data comes to light.

Can i just run the baffles closed or is this problematic on the track?
Current plan less than 70% throttle, shift early between 5 and 6, and stay to the left while making sure nobody is wanting to pass me.

LS is a momentum track and lifting at the booth can cost additional time all the way to the corkscrew - which is fine if you're not driving for time. up shifting is another option, but it's slower.

Upshifting (to 5th) at LS costs only 0.5 seconds per lap in a GT3 (verified by data logging). I maybe even less in GT2 because of more lower-end torque and more power overall. I would recommend upshifting over lifting because it's hard to consistently lift just enough to not be flagged, and lifting all the way would be way too slow and dangerous.
Blocking flaps permanently is possible but I would not do it, especially on a firebreathing monster like GT2 - it may overheat expensive components.

Does the group you are driving with offer coaching? You might want to get a session or two with an instructor. Even after weeks at the track, there is still a ton learn and you'll learn much faster with help.
Have fun.

You'd have to ask some one who's had their GT2 at the track. I think the GT3's blow about 98 DBs stock. With the turbos in between, the GT2's might be quieter.

I've driven many cars on many tracks, just not Laguna Seca. Coaches are awesome but those.offered at track days aren't the typical pedigree I've been coached by. We shall see, not focused on sub 1:35 lap times just a slow progressive increase as I learn the track. Plan is 60-70% below comfort level ;-)
I'm only concerned with the the sound booth between turns 5 & 6. It is going to be one of the most chill events I've gone to, just wanna do some laps and have fun without getting kicked off too early ;-).

Upshifting at specific revs is distracting and you will eventually miss it as you start going faster. What works most reliably is upshifting one or two gears up at a specific spot. What works 100% on GT3 is upshifting two gears (3->5) just before the car reaches track out of Turn 5. It does not unsettle the car because T5 exit catches the car with extra compression on exit. So I'd start with shifting two gears up at that spot and returning back to normal shifting at T6 braking zone. I do not think you would need to shift 3 gears up, but you may get away with shifting just one gear up due to turbos muffling the sound.
