Some of you guys have been patiently waiting for our DSC Sport Active Suspension Controller to have compatibility for your 991.2 GT3/RS/Touring with FAL(Front Axle Lift), so first we want to Thank You for your patience and for your interest in our product. We now have a positive announcement for some of you guys in this video and followed by the description below.
During our development for FAL compatibility we have discovered there are 2 types of FAL system(the two types are Air Lift and Hydraulic Lift), on top of the 2 types of systems, there are 5 possible combinations for factory PASM controller for .2 GT cars. See images below.
As per the factory parts catalog below the PASM controller is shown as item #10. There are 5 different part numbers for item #10.
We have tested FAL compatibility on 3 of the 5 part numbers. The remaining 2 part numbers we are unable to get for testing because they are discontinued as per this factory document. 991.618.450.52 Tested No FAL error with DSC 991.618.450.53 Tested No FAL error with DSC 991.618.450.54 Tested No FAL error with DSC
In theory, the FAL compatibility should also be fine for the discontinued part numbers since they are superseded by part numbers that tested OK. But we are unable to get them so we cannot confirm at this time.
Going forward, we recommend checking controller part number on your car before ordering until we have more data on the discontinued part number controllers. Test subjects are welcomed with the discontinued part number controllers and FAL equipped cars.
Here is an example image of the factory PASM controller with the part number circled.
991.2 GT3/RS/Touring car owners who have ordered DSC will get an email shortly to confirm part number of their factory controller, once confirmed, the new DSC V3 controller will be shipped within the 3 business days.
New orders can be placed on: www.dscsport.com
I have a DSC V3 in my GT3 RS with FAL for several months already and did not encounter any issues. What am I missing?
Very glad to hear your car is not one of the affected. Some cars just aren't affected. Would you mind sharing the part number of your factory PASM controller? When we started to get report of error message on the dash when the FAL is activated we weren't aware at the time that Porsche offer 2 different types of lift systems and 5 different part numbers of controllers, so a total of 10 possible combinations. Yours is a FAL error-free combination with DSC installed.
Suppliers in Australia would already have stock, if i buy one from them can you upgrade that unit (if I have issues) or do we need a separate/new unit?

The only DSC authorized dealer in AU is TT Suspension. TT Suspension can update V3 controllers that they have in stock with FAL fix. Contact for TT Suspension: dejan@ttsuspension.com

was just wondering if your fix involved new hardware- sounds like only a software fix. thanks for the reply.
Interested in upgrading my .1 RS springs with aftermarket kit (swift) to bring springs to .2RS specs. Would it be recommended to get the DSC controller for the .2 or still the .1? Would the springs even be a worthwhile upgrade when running the DSC unit? thx in advance.

You'd have to order DSC for .1 because the communication protocol for other systems on car has to match. The actual commands to the shocks(the commands is a function of the Calibration File) are the same for .1 and .2 cars.

Thanks. Does this mean the dampers are the same for the .1 and .2? Always thought the valving may be different.

Close enough.
Please keep in mind that DSC is tuning in suspension in an "active" manner to the driver's input and rate of inputs, whereas other conventional approaches tune the suspension in a "passive" manner for the hardware and for the environment.
In lack of a better phrase, regardless of what the peak damping value a particular part number shock has, by adding "x" amount of damping force at the moment of "x" input from the driver, the driver can expect a favorable action.
The active approach was used by Lotus and Williams in F1 which has been banned for F1 racing since the '90s.
