Default 991.1 GT3RS jack points without JackPoints

Recently I saw Archie Hamilton’s car lifted and it seemed to be supported on the crossmember between the lower control arms with jack stands. I wanted to see if that was a safe point to lift or one to avoid?

What I really want to do is get a jack stand on each jack point for wheel swaps, brake pad/rotor changes etc. Jack Points seem a little cumbersome with the plates meeting the open base. My plan: Floor jack the rear jack point first. Place a jack stand on the front jack point. Repeat for the opposite side. Then while i have a floor jack lifting the rear jack point, use my second jack to lift the crossmember and replace my primary jack on the rear jack point with a stand to have 4 jack stands on each jack point. Phew 😅

This sound right?

Stands on crossmember safe?

I do the same, with the stands positioned just to the inside of the lower control arms on the cross member. It's stable, even for torquing wheels.

Yes, it's aluminum. I recommend using quality jack stands with wide base and rubber pad, since you don't want metal on metal contact. I use these ESCO units, that are available on amazon:

Thanks Serge!

I also noticed you have yellow calipers. Are you still running ceramics or have you switched out to iron? I’ve had this car for a year and racked up 1000 track miles, 5000 road miles on my original PCCB pads and rotors and im still at 9mm front and 8mm rear pad life and 90+ on the rotors. I have about 6/32 left on my original N1 SC2. I drive mostly my local tracks and did 250 miles at COTA. Surprisingly these 3rd gen PCCB are more durable than the older gen. I’m thinking abt switching to Girodiscs so I can run more aggressive pads hence the jack and jack stand questions. Thanks for your insight.

The JackPoints take a little time to get used to setting them up. After a few tries it becomes easier. I like mine.

With the amount of driving you do, I'd imagine that's a regular occurrence, no?

That is where I have been putting my jack stands. There is really no other place. If you are doing a oil change, the stands get in the way of the oil drain pan.

Since the JackPoint stands are on backorder, I just ordered these to make it much easer to get the car up in the air, and give me the entire underside to roll around on.

Why not use the rear outer jack point instead of the inner? Jack from the back out, place the front and jackpoint on the rear, done.
