Default Looking for a reasonable P-car for my college daughter

Possibly not right for this sub-forum, so please pardon if this is misplaced. But my college freshman "gets it." She drives a MT (fairly well) and was the chief planner in spec'ing out our '19 GT3T (with grand designs on it being hers in a decade or two...). And, having been through several performance driving schools, is a very competent driver.

I want something reasonably-depreciated, but nice, to replace her Nissan as a college car. Thinking coupe rather than soft top so it's a bit more durable. But I don't know anything about boxsters/caymans/718's/996's/etc... What is a "good value" used car to put her in for a few years?

VW R type with the DCT.. College girls dont need to worry about maintaining a car and getting a degree.. (#2 starts school in 3 weeks, first girl starting senior year.. )
Distractions are the enemy..

Keep the Nissan and buy something really cool for a grad present..

I'm sure everyone will point out that there might be better options for the only car for a college student (more practical, etc.) or that if it's going a Porsche, it should be a Macan (they might be right there too).

However, life's short, so let's answer the question at hand, what Porsche sports car? For safety and comfort/convenience a later model would be better. I vote for a 981 Cayman or Cayman S. It can be had with a MT, it's got a six cylinder, it's reliable, it's got lots of room for stuff (two trunks!), it's fun (a lot of PCA instructors drive these cars), and it's new enough to get CPO.

Even if she's a car person, I wouldn't put her in a 993--it'll get beat up by whoever parks next to her at school. What's your desired price range?

I moved my wife out of a small car recently (she's never had an accident in her life and in her mid 40s). It doesn't matter how good of a driver your daughter is when a Suburban hits her in a small car. There is a simple mass and momentum problem daily driving a small car these days, especially an old one. Let her borrow your GT3 and get her something safe.

Get a 2013 991 Cabriolet. First year of the cab and second year of the series. The top on the 991 is nothing like the rag top on the 997 series. In design, shape and materials.

What's her major going to be?

What is a "reasonable price"?

What sort of weather will she be driving in (what state is the school in)? You ok with only rear drive?

My first thoughts would be a 991.1 2012.5-2013 Carrera or Carrera S ... ($60K-$70K).

Amazing how the OP is pretty specific on what he wants and gets suggestions on the complete opposite. LOL.

Want a coupe, cab gets suggested ... wants a manual, goofy Macan gets suggested, etc ..

A nice 997.2

991.1 Carrera manuals as well ...

You can look at manual Caymans too like suggested ... a few notches down in $$ from above examples
