Default EPB electronic parking brake fault on gt3?

Might be a long shot, did anyone ever experience electronic parking brake faults on their GT3? I did a search and only found some stuff about it regarding older cayennes etc.

I recall having that fault once or twice in the past year, kinda random happening after the car sitting for a while (3 weeks or so), but it always went away. A few months ago I bought a code/diagnostic reader (because i wanted to DIY some stuff on other cars) and out of curiosity plugged it in to see if there's any errors, didnt see anything too recent, cleared them and that was it. About a week ago, I was in the car and stepped on the gas without releasing the hand brake. The car automatically released the hand brake of course, with a quick warning sign saying "release hand brake" etc. There was no faults or anything so I didnt pay too much attention after that.
And then a few days ago, after a very hot drive in 100F weather, tried to park the car and got a "parking brake fault" light. The EPB still clamps and releases as usual, but the fault is still there for some reason.
I hooked up the scanner, didnt know what I was doing at all. I got to see all the clearances in mm, did a test clamping and release and it worked fine. There's even a calibration mode which I did, the car basically starts doing clamping and releasing several times and doing its test, but after completion the error stayed on. I played around some more and did something like reset to factory setting etc. Now it says "parking brake in service position" and I can no longer calibrate or test it, as it's always released. I read up the service manual, which mentioned about adjusting the brake shoe using screwdriver etc.
Wondering if anyone has ever done it before after a hand brake replacement, or ever having similar faults such as this. Thanks!!
(Regretted playing around and trying my luck, at least previously the EPB still works, just has that warning message everytime I start the car. But now the EPB doesnt work anymore and says it needs calibration )

Yes, had it on mine.

Faulty sensor. Repair and replaced under warranty. Took about 10 days, 9 of which was waiting for parts from Germany.

Probably too early to say, I didnt get to use it much yet. I bought a foxwell simply because it supports all my cars (ferrari, porsche, audi), instead of buying several readers for each. So far so good. I had a CEL on the boxster running rough, and it led me to ignition coil #6, popped one in and all's been good. It didnt help me with the hand brake issue though, but that's probably because I dont know what I was doing, lol. I plan to learn to start doing small maintenance stuff such as oil changes, sparks, brakes, filters and the like by myself, so that's why i got a reader. My local f dealer wanted $1200 for an oil change, F that

Every time my parking brake is engaged and I release it I get an error that clears from the display when I restart the car.

So just in case anyone have this issue in the future, I took it to a indy porsche specialist. They plugged in the factory scan tool, and it showed pretty much the same as what I had in the reader. Did calibration two times and the fault persists. So as expected (from what i read in the service manual), they had to remove the rear wheels and use a screwdriver to adjust the brake shoes. They charged me $310 which i find a bit steep for about 30 min of adjustment (no grinding down needed on PCCB), not including mounting and dismounting the center wheel locks, but then I learned something new today so all is good.
I didnt change my brakes or hand brakes ever, it's strange it just came up like that out of the blue. The mechanic also said this is the first time he had to do it on a gt3 (done plenty on old cayennes)
In response to awew911 above, there's a "light test" from the scan tool that allows you to check the connectivity of the switch, during which the EPB button will keep flashing, which I assume is how they test if the switch is the issue.
Best - Ric

this happened to me at the track, unloaded the car drove off and found the parking brake light on but car moved.. Tried to release but light would not clear, drove back to my pit stopped and then car locked in parking brake and could not release. Called dealer and got instructions on how to manually release the brake and was able to complete the weekend without parking brake. After returning home I took the car in and hey replaced the accuater on the wheel that had the problem. Afraid to set the parking brake anymore, out of warranty.

mine's just out of warranty too. Good idea, I should skip the hand brake from now on unless I am on an incline (prob dont need it with PDK in park)

https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...e-failure.html - This is a much better thread documenting the fixes.

Having similar issue with my GT3 touring. Parking brake fault seems to occur when it sits outside in hot weather. First time in the service and they found brake fluid leak that they claimed was causing the issue. But I still kept getting the error, back for service again and they said I moved the car while the door was open which caused the error. That explanation makes no sense to me because I don't do that. Extremely frustrating as this parking brake fault keeps happening which causes sport mode to be disabled. Any help here would be appreciated.

Mine went from once a month to 2-3 times per month. The dealer covered the sensor under warranty. They had the car for about two weeks.

I had this same issue on my GT3 touring! My parking brake failed and made a deep groove in the PCCB rotor. The dealer had to replace the EPB and the rotor (thankfully under warranty). Honestly, EPB is the worst "new innovation". I've found it much more prone to failure than a conventional parking brake, and I don't see what value it provides other than extra complexity. Half the time I forget the EPB is on. If I could pay to convert it to a conventional parking brake I would.

Thanks for the feedback. Scheduled service for next week. Also noticed recently that the fault comes on when the car sits outside in the heat. So bizarre but hoping this will be the last of the issues once serviced.
