Ticket for accelerating too fast!!
I got a lame ticket in my GT3 Touring. Accelerated vary fast from a stop light and got a ticket for "speed racing". No burnt-out. No other cars with me. Not speeding (never left 1st gear). LAME!!! Stock exhaust too!
Be careful. I live in Oregon fyi.
Getting a lawyer.

I just got out of court and I WON on the ticket for accelerating too fast!! My lawyer did a great job of making the case that as the law states "An exhibition of speed or acceleration" requires an audience not just a driver by himself. I am so glad I won!!! If not I would be facing a careless driving ticket everytime I drove my car simply at the officers discretion.

Go to court. What can be proved? That your car got up to the speed limit faster than cop liked? Please.
Maybe the cop won’t even show up. The last time I went to court to fight a ticket the cop didn’t show and the clerk took all of 5 seconds to say “case dismissed.”

I will be getting a lawyer so hopefully it will get dismissed. I didn't see the cop. I don't think accelerating fast (no burn-out) is driving like an ***. It is making me re-think the exhaust though. So according to your logic we can never accelerate hard because we are being an ***? I bet you can"t tell me you have never reved it to 7k in 1st gear in town?
I am posting this mainly as a heads up to other drivers. I did nothing wrong. I have at other times though........

Double the pucker factor. First the fun of putting your foot down on the gas peddle. Then seeing how fast your car braked when the cop pulled you over. Hope you win the case. We all do the same thing in our cars as that's part of the fun. We just have to learn to pick better spots to unleash the beast.

One time when i was 19 or 20 i jumped on my muscle car in a strip mall parking lot, getting sideways and leaving a big cloud of smoke. When the smoke cleared and i could see out of the windshield, two cops sitting at a donut shop wave for me to come over. I learned two things from that episode. First, always check for a donut shop before doing something stupid in a car. And second, riding public transportation for a year really sucks.

They could of given you a reckless driving ticket.
It sucks but it is what it is.
***I got nailed 2 years ago doing the same-good to know someone- got it dropped to illegally tinted windows which was just a fine

Here in Mass that's an easy ticket....exhibition of speed.....someone I know got one last year along with reckless....he got a lawyer to no avail.....they dropped the reckless but the main one stuck....best of luck....

In MD they issue reckless driving citations for accelerating too fast. It seems like it would be hard to enforce, absent a video. Not certain why anyone would need a lawyer to contest this, since I would expect that a PBJ would be a virtual certainty in cases like this. So all you would have to do is be a "good boy" for the probation period, and the citation is expunged.

A lawyer - why? Pay the ticket and move on.Unless its going to dramatically affect your insurance.

Ugh, that sucks. I was just pulled over for the same thing- BUT, the Washington County cop was nice to me and let me go with a warning. I don't want to think what kind of ticket we could have gotten accelerating last weekend when I was tail end Charlie in our local PCA drive!
Where did it happen- in Bend? OHP around there are NOT nice from my experience!
