Default Front license plate on GT3 ..HELP please !

Dear all

I am moving to Switzerland for few years and will be taking my new GT3 with me in June (I have lived there before).....

Switzerland is very strict about license plates in the front of the car ....while the Swiss front plate is much smaller than say the French or the German ....I really don’t want to drill holes in my GT3 ...which will come back with me to the US after a few years.....

I was in Geneva last week and had that discussion with a MB dealership....he did not have a solution ...I have not talked to Porsche in Geneva yet....but again...I have never seen any sports car in Switzerland without the front plate ....

anybody knows a way to attach the plate without drilling holes or mess up the paint ?
May be I can keep this car on foreign US plates .. ? I will buy other family cars over there ....

I am really troubled about this one !

Help !

I use adhesive, but I bought my car used they already drilled the bumper. Anyways the plate covers it up so doesn't matter I guess.

Zip ties to fasten the player to the center mesh grill? The CH plates are rather small if I recall.

Also, double sided tape can work. Will CH allow you to make a sticker version of the front plate as other have done in the EU?

I used a sticker on my Eurodelivery. I don't know if it's legal in Switzerland, but from 20 feet away, you can't tell and really can't while you're moving. I think the only problem will be if you're stopped. Here is a picture of mine compared with Ottokar Jacobs 911R with real Austrian plates at the Porsche Museum in Gmund.

I glued two 1 inch diameter rare earth magnets, painted to match the grill, to the inside of the center mesh grill spaced about 8 inches apart. Next I attached a strip of 436 stainless steel to the back of the plate so that it would line up with the magnets. Finally I had to trim my Ohio plate to fit the grill opening. Speed tested at Mid-Ohio. No issues. As long as I am not in the meter maid infested Short North area of Columbus, OH I can easily detach the plate and put it in the frunk.

Is it a adhesive backed sticker or similar to a clear bra?

I’ve got the Carbonio one for my Spyder. Works great and can be taken on and off in seconds. I keep it in the frunk.

Importing your GT3 to CH from US, Id be curious to know the costs/process if you don't mind sharing a bit. I assumed it would be prohibitively expensive... always dreamed of living abroad in Europe

This is the answer, unless Switzerland has different rules from Germany, it's the most solid and yet least intrusive answer. Screws into tow bolt hole. Easily removable.

US millworks adapters are not legal in Switzerland nor Germany.
The plate can not protrude from the body.

Magnets below the apron or Velcro will do the trick but might leave a shadow impression on the paint after long term application.
