Default New Option for the GT3RS

As many of you already know, Porsche removed the option to order the Weissach Package from the GT3RS at some point due to their inability to obtain some of the parts (so i'm told anyways). I just received this notice today and it would seem that not only did they secure some of the parts vendors but have added the ability to get the CF hood painted in the same color as your car. Note that this is an alternative to the original Weissach and I haven't heard what parts are the same and which are different.

BOTTOM LINE: If you have a car ordered and were told you could not get the Weissach package you should call your dealer to see if they can add it for you. Here is a cut/paste of what I received with minor edits to help with formatting (underlined/red parts are added emphasis from me):911 GT3 RS: Weissach Package with Front Lid in Exterior Color (option 909)

created by Rachel Garcia in New Vehicle Sales - View the full documentWith the original Weissach Package (option 808) still on stop order, an alternative Weissach Package with Front Lid in Exterior Color (option 909) is now available for ordering for the 911 GT3 RS.

Current and future 911 GT3 RS customers desiring a version of the Weissach Package, should select option 909- Weissach Package with Front Lid in Exterior Color.

Note that if the original Weissach Package, option 808, has been selected and your order is in V100, it is NOT confirmed for production. In this case, remove option 808 and replace it with option 909, Weissach Package with Front Lid in Exterior Color.

Please see a description of the Weissach Package with Front Lid in Exterior Color below:

Exterior

•Carbon fiber front lid painted in exterior color
•Exposed carbon fiber roof instead of standard magnesium roof saves approximately 1.1 lb (0.5 kg)
•Exposed carbon fiber rear wing with large ‘PORSCHE’ logo
•Exposed carbon fiber mirror housings

Interior

•Steering wheel trim and gearshift paddles in carbon fiber save approximately 0.6 lb (0.3 kg)
•Additional plaque on cupholder cover with Weissach package logo
•Headrests embroidered with Weissach package logo.

Chassis

•Anti-roll bars and end links in carbon fiber (front and rear) save approximately 11.7 lb (5.3 kg)

If I’m V200 with a confirmed build date for the original WP option I should get the CF non painted hood at some point correct?

Just had this confirmed and added. Prefer the painted bonnet (and roof for that matter) anyway!

I couldn't resist either, I like the painted hood. I just saw the carbon ASBs on another RS, they're crazy. People are going to have them PPF'd.

Updated my config with 909. SA will check with regional rep tomorrow to see if it will stick. Thoughts on GT-silver with 909?

I think 909 with GT Silver will look better than the exposed CF hood 808.
Just one perspective.

Anyone have any idea how many cars were approved for option 808?

If it was me and I was paying for the CF hood I would want it exposed.....what's the point otherwise?.....weight savings?....most can't tell the difference anyways

agree, 909 offers not much value for $18k. 808 or nothing.

Ummmm, technically neither offer much value for 18k. Get it if you like it or dont. But value isnt the issue here, its all looks, thats it. Don't care what anyone says, its just a look, anyone who wants to shed weight for performance reasons can shed 4X the weight for 1/5th the money

all true, value wasn’t the best choice of words.
