Are the turbos with porsche closer in driving to the 488 (no turtle lag) or Mclaren's (lots of turbo lag) - The current porsche turbo I would argue is closer to the drive of the Mclaren. Is there any insight to the next gen porsche turbo in how it drives?
gonna bet the next gen turbo is going to suck more

I would think that if Porsche were going to use a turbo for the GT3 they would have been spending a lot of time to eradicate any turbo lag. I can just see the Andreas interview now...

"The new 992 GT3 is a massive leap forward. It has a 550 HP "race proven" engine with zero turbo lag. And I mean zero. It has such a linear delivery of power that you cannot tell it is a turbo. Also, the torque is incredible, increasing from 335 to 400. The car is a real handful! It is like a two generation leap from the 991. In internal testing it was on par with the previous generation GT2 RS."

And then the threads start. My dealer promised me an allocation on the 992 GT3. They have had my deposit for 3 years but now they won't return my calls. Followed by what do you guys think a fair ADM is on these cars? LOL

I would agree and hope with this except my drive in the Turbo S was seriously disappointing.

In my book, NA>turbo and most everyone's turbo>than Porsche's turbo when it comes to exhaust note. I know the new 2rs is loud but Porsche has been incapable of making a good sounding turbo note when you compare them to Merc or Ferrari. Some of the best NA's in the world on the other hand.

I think sound is different than drive. Sound is better in 458 but the 488 drives so much better. With porsche, no doubt the sound will be terrible with the turbos - im more interested in the drive. Ill deal with lack of sound if the drive is optimal.

I have no idea if it will or will not be a turbo...but it is...then bring it on. A junior-GT2 like car with 550hp and torque to match would be a killer.

And by the results of the Spa 24hr, I bet the racing dept wants it too. IMO, the GT3Rs are really struggling due to lack of low down torque. I watched them closely out of the corners and the big bore V8s and turbo based competition just pull away. And while the Rs might make up some ground in the corners and under brakes, they just do not have enough bottom end grunt to make up all the lost ground.

Have faith. These guys are among the best in the business. They will figure it out. Too much riding on it. Whatever they come up with should improve the entire turbo line.

Remember: The GT3 (RS) is the homologation car for many Porsche Motorsport cars. So, I expect at least *some* version of one of the cars to keep an engine in line with the rulebook for the series Porsche wants to race in. If those series demand an NA engine to be competitive, it will be an NA engine. If it demands turbos, it will have turbos.
