I've been on the "list" at my 3 ADs here for past 2 years......I'm a nobody so they tell me wait another 4-6 years

Personally, I think paying ADM for modern rolex is not a smart move. Rolex make these watches for 10+ years and supplies will eventually catch up to demand and price will reach MSRP. May take few years but it will eventually.
GT car on the other hand, is produced for about a year or so. It's now or never kind of thing.

Word to wise: If you're on 3 AD lists at separate locations of the same store, they will drop your position in the order of things. Different product, different rules.

I'm not a watch guy. I have a couple but it's not my thing. Last time I walked into a Rolex dealer, i asked if they had any daytona's. they said "we have one in white, you want it?" That was 3ys ago? I had bought a couple watches from them maybe 5-6 years prior. Nothing big; I'm not some great customer for them. I was surprised; I assumed those were fairly hard to get? It was at list. I passed. Made me think it's another game of smoke and mirrors to create the illusion of tight supply.

You couldn’t even give away the 116520 (non-ceramic) Daytona 3 years ago. They were $8k in the preowned market. Then the 116500 ceramic came out. Rolex limited supply. Ridiculous preowned market prices came and stayed. Market is completely different now. I won’t pay over for a mass produced Rolex. So it justified the transition to AP and PP.
Don't get me wrong, the .2GT3 gave me goosebumps driving it as I increased the RPMs but it just wasn't as raw as the 997 4.0 which gave me bigger goosebumps. The sound, the tough clutch, the noise, etc...
