My understanding is that these tires were the ones used to set the record lap times.

Maybe N1 no longer latest and greatest. This posted yesterday by BrntRubber driving GT3RS with Photo of MPSC2 - N2

Cup 2 tires on a very hot dayHi Guys,
I have put 350 miles on my new 3RS. 200 of which are pushing it hard late at night on the twisties.

Its a very hot day today in Ibiza and she was slipping and sliding like never before.

1) Could the tires already be worn? Seems unlikely and they seem ok to the eye.

2) Do the Cup 2s struggle in high heat. It’s 36 degrees/ 86 Fahrenheit?

Thanks for the advice.

Interesting that with the R, they've gone to N0 (never seen before on the RS).

It's a brand new tire 'model', so to me makes sense that they would start at 0.

Uh, you guys know they've already sold these tires for years now, they are called Trofeo-R's.
Michelin sticky tires aren't magic, these Cup2R's will wear faster than normal Cup2, that's how it works. They will offer Trofeo-R type grip, last about the same time, and cost about the same. AP just doing his normal "marketing" talking about how these will last as long as normal Cup2 and not be a "cheater" tire like Trofeo-R. He has to hype the Michelin, that's how it works. I'm sure it will be a great tire, but if you are going to try them, why wait, get some Trofeo's now.

Rumors of these costing twice as much as normal Cup2 is nuts. Market can't handle that. Nobody is going to pay $3200+ for a set of tires. Trofeo-R in 20" are just over 2k, and people whine about that.

No more rim-protector sidewall design though, thank god. Current spec tires are fawking hideous.

I know a lot of people disagree with me, but there are also many that agree with me: Trofeo-R suck. Too finicky. Last 2 days. No faster than Cup2. If cup2 R are faster, give me 3 good track days, and cost a few hundred more, I'll be fan.

Seriously, who in the market for Cup Rs is concerned about tire wear? These all heat cycle out before they're worn out.

Agree Joe - altho I ran HoHo R7's today for the first time (265/19 f 345/19r). Gonna be hard to go back to a street tire now I'm afraid.....tires went through six, 30 minute sessions in 90 plus degree heat and did great....We will see how many day(s) I get out of them.

Agreed, I'm running the new 20" Hoosier R7's and love em.

Awesome - I'm probably going to try the R7's on my OEM 20 inch wheels. I like the 19 inch set up (forgeline), except for PCCB caliper clearance - I had to move some wheels weights on my fronts due to such tight clearance........! Still no problems running the 19's today.

There's still a difference between 5 days, 3 days, and only two good days on tires, perhaps?
