I used now 3 complete set of cup R on my gt2 rs so i can tell you the truth:

this tire is like a slick, i don’t know if there is 2/3/4mm of high grip gum on it but what i can say is that they are optimal for 100/150kms of track use, it will works better/faster on this car vs a real slick in 19’ size that you can’t find on size 325 mm rear on the gt2/3 rs

what happen after 150kms on the track....:it still works!!!....but offcourse less good and this is the same on trofeo R or normal cup, the difference of grip is just more significant because yes the grip when it is new is far better than these two.

you can use the cup r all the day on the track but on the afternnon you will be slower, i can extrapolate:

My feeling is
on a magny cours GP track a 5.3kms track in france for exemple with a stock gt2 rs correctly adjusted (camber, heigh of suspension etc...) :

cup R new: 1.45min
trofeo r new: 1.47min
cup2 new: 1.48.50min

Cup r after 150kms: 1.48min
trofeo r after 150kms: 1.49.50min
cup2 after 150kms: 1.49.50min

cup r at the end of the day 350kms: 1min52
trofeo r at the end of the day 350kms: 1min52
cup 2 at the end of the day 350kms: 1min52.50

So yes this tire must be reserved for a beautiful occasion, on a beautiful race track, with beautiful friends and cars to play (or destroy and beautiful weather/temps conditions to maximize the driving pleasure

if these conditions aren’t collected, keep the regular cup 2 or the trofeo r, just price reminder gt2/3 rs here in france:

cup R: 3000€
trofeo R:1900€
cup 2: 1500€

It is comparable for me to eat in a 5* 3month reservation required restaurant and eat in a good familial food restaurant, both are great it depend of the occasion and your spirit on that day 👍🏻

^^^^ That is a great real-world post, and confirms exactly what I was told about the construction and how they work.

As I have said all along, IMO, the Trofeo-R is the sweet spot for price and pace. New these not only have more grip, they also feel better with less squirm than the Cup2 N1, giving more confidence. Those who say they aren't any faster on Trofeo-R's is likely because they haven't optimized their setup/alignment for the additional grip. It's a faster tire than any Cup2, plain and simple.

The Cup2R though, literally obliterates the previous definition of "cheater tire".

GREAT data. Thank you for that. Your experience with the cup2 matches my experience as well. I don't know why me and my friends have never been able to get trofeo R to work well. I just know I'm not interested in trying anymore.

the setup of the car between a trofeo r and cup 2 is different anyway setuped car on trofeo r works well on cup R, but not on cup 2 👍🏻
the trofeo and R is slighly more rigid on sidewall compare to cup 2 and normally it is better to have a softer sway bar adjustment with these tire to get optimal grip and wear, that can be strange but it works on that way 🤷🏻*♂️

Thanks - this is great info!

In general longevity, basically for how long the tire is still worth using, how would you compare those 3?

as i says the three is the best choice now for porsche gt car, it depend of your use
the maximum longevity on track for cup r is 500kms, after that it still looks great but the grip doesn’t exist anymore so ready for rubbish or street legal monaco use to drive around the casino

What cold and hot pressures are people running on these tires (for GT3 RS?).

Also what camber and toe feel optimal

Cheers

I'm about to mount my first set of Cup2 R tires, and I'd love to get this info, too. Especially the pressures.

These Cup2R tires are excellent while they last! I did 3 good hard days on them with exceptional grip, cutting about 2 seconds off the Cup2 at VIR. I was instructed by Porsche engineer that helped with record runs to keep them between 30-32psi for best results. I went out cold at 26psi all around and the fronts quickly went to 36, rears only 33. I bled them and the fronts were clearly heating more than the rears for the remainder of the first day, so I leaned ever harder on the rears to find a better balance. At the end of day 3, they felt more like a decent used Cup2 tire, and were still plenty good. They don't have a lot of the R tread (2mm), so warm them up slowly to keep from tearing them up while cold, then lean on them like never before the get out of them what they have.

I have a new set of cup2 R tires and planning to set the best lap time.

What is the best lao time? The first 5 hot laps when they are absolutely new?
Should I mount then on a racetrack and do the hot laps when they are brand new? Or is the bed in process required?

Thanks in advance to those who respond on the above.

What do you think about maximum longevity Trofeo R vs. Cup2 N2 ?

The first day on Cup2 R is the fastest day, and especially the 3-5th laps of the first session - you will get addicted to the braking, too. Do not bed in good tires, they don't need it at all, and that's not how it works. If you can get 500km or 300 miles out of them, you have done well. I get 200 good miles out of a set, then they start to feel like a mid-life Cup2 at best.
