991.2 3RS Ring time..............

Meanwhile, excuses galore for the C7 ZR1 is ramping up....
I thought it would at least be in the very low 7's... and based on the hoopla I figured a sub-7min laptime.

That thing looks like a mix of Knight rider and Transformers. Hope they don't screw up the mid engine design that bad

I feel like I should be more excited about this...but still feels to me like an incremental improvement over the RS.1...I have yet to see anything to convince me upgrade.
I realize they are all incremental improvements with each new Porsche...I guess I was expecting more of a separation between the cars. I guess they have a lot on their plates at the moment and an improvement is an improvement.
Who knows...maybe in a year or two I'll pick up a used lizard.

Well, the only way to see exactly how incremental is to put the .1 RS on the same tyre (easily done as they are the same size) as the .2 now and run it back to back. Which no one is ever going to do as it helps to hype up the newest latest thing.

Incremental would have been 5-6 seconds. This is about 20s faster than they did in the gen1, so very significant. The big question is tyres in this story though. If this was a special compound, the actual difference may be down to about 10 seconds.
More importantly, they have raised the amount of interest in this car which, maybe outside of this forum, had frankly been luke warm.

Wow, I am very impressed. I for one did not think the .2 RS would go under 7 seconds. Like most have mentioned, I would love to see, on the same day, the .1 RS on the same tire run the Ring now with all the improvements(paving) . I bet it wouldn't be a 24 second gap between the two.

No doubt tires played an important role in the significant improvement in Ring times. But you could also say the Weissach package. Mag wheels, 20 more hp and suspension played a role. It's a freaken .2GT3RS! What's your point? Do you consider an improvement of 10 seconds incremental?

Agreed; .1 vs .2 RS I’m guessing it’s roughly 50/50 more HP and stiffer suspension vs better tires, better conditions, and track updates. Either way an impressive result and makes you wonder if it steals some GT2 RS thunder..
