I figure I'll just replace the wheel went it gets too matted for my taste. Speaking of which, I should probably go order one for my GTS now...

Leather for me as well.I replaced any alcantara I can in my incoming GT3 for leather. I just traded in my 2002 C4S. Leather still looked good after 15 years and 67,000 miles. I don't believe an alcantara steering wheel would still look as good.

I’ve had a 997.2 gt3 with alcantara and 991.1 gt3 with leather. The 991.2 will have alcantara. The alcantara has better grip.

GT4 had alcantara, loved it. 997.2 GT3 had alcantara, loved it...BUT it was wearing down and showing its age. I knew I was going to trade in the GT4, so wear was not an issue.
Im planning on keeping the new GT3 and I knew I didn’t want to deal with alcantara long term, although I did get the alcantara arm rest with the crest. Alcantara is also really cheap for Porsche to buy, figure the leather is more expensive no cost option, lol. Stick it back to Porsche, lol.
I wear gloves at the track so grip is not an issue with leather.

I went alcantara. I do worry about wearing on the wheel after long term but I like the alcantara for the more sport car feel. I would order the dash in it if I could.

Alcantara does have better grip when it's new. It simply does not wear well and looks like crap after a short period of time. Been there, have the T-shirt...

I've had both. I prefer leather. For me, with gloves the alcantara is too grippy.
Alcantara seat inserts are great. Alcantara headliner is nice. Alcantara (or leather) sun visors are a must.
Steering wheel or gear shift look worn fast. Arm rest also would be better in leather. In other words, it's not great in high-wear areas.
