Alcantara vs Leather steering wheel
I currently have ordered a leather steering wheel and shifter. I had the Alcantara wheel in a GTS. I liked it well enough. I will not have a leather dash or any extra leather interior. My question is positive or negative feedback with regards to the steering wheel exclusively, disregarding the other bits of the interior. Will the leather steering will be any less accommodating to driving then the Alcantara?

In my .1 GT3 and .2Targa I had leather steering wheel. I now have a .2 GT3 with an alcantara steering wheel and love it. I like the feel, solid grip and look. The leather wheel can get slippery. The downside to alcantara is wear. Its not an issue for me since I don't keep cars very long.
FWIW, I have a full leather dash with leather LWBS and they go well together.

To me, Alcantara is more sporty looking, more befitting the car. Not to be underestimated, despite that it's about one-tenth the cost of leather, Porsche designers spec'd it that way and Porsche knows what it's doing (in my book).
Good luck with your decision and enjoy the car!

I have alcantara now in my 991.1 GTS and love it! Feels great to the touch and stays warm. Zero wear after almost 7,000 miles. You can't go wrong either way.

I have an Alcantara wheel in my 997.2 GTS. I'm fastidious with the interior of my cars but with 46K miles on the car, the Alcantara is a bit matted and looks "worn". I went with a leather wheel on my 991.2 Turbo S, but I don't really like it -- it doesn't feel "special". For my 991.2 GT3 order I went with Alcantara again. I figure I'll just replace the wheel went it gets too matted for my taste. Speaking of which, I should probably go order one for my GTS now...

I have two Porsche sports cars both with full leather including steering wheel. I can't stand alcantara. I don't like the feel or look - reminds me of a suede from the 70s. It doesn't wear well either. I guess we are all different.

I went leather for my build as I was worried about how the alcantara would hold up long term (I plan on keeping my GT3 for awhile), I thought that the leather would be easier to clean/maintain over time

Had the leather in my previous gt3, ordered leather on the gear lever and steering wheel on my soon to arrive 991.2 gt3. I tend to keep my cars and leather lasts and has a great feel. I’m way too OCD for alcantara.

I think the leather wheel looks out of place in a gt3, might make more sense in a touring or a turbo. Gt3 should be alcantra imo.
