6MT 2018 GT3 at Porsche North Houston
#46
To paraphrase Apollo 13 Command Module Pilot Jack Swigert,
'Porsche North Houston, we have a problem'!
1) The 2011 .2 997 gt3 RS is 'Grey Black' & not 'Meteor Gray Metallic'.
Back in 2016, they had it right in the Rennlist classifieds:
But clearly they are presently slacking off.
Oh dear!
Tres cervezas for 911dev & the same for the
Captain if he brings Tenille with him to Scottsdale!
Saludos,
Eduardo
PS For a bonus point & an extra beer, why is
'Meteor Gray Metallic' 'worded' incorrectly by
this Porsche dealer who should know better?
We still have the two beer bonus point question
on the reproduction-like 'plate' on another one
of these PNH vehicles!

You guys are goooood!
Correctamundo. In Porsche color-speak,
we say 'Grey':
In Audi color-speak, for example, they say 'Gray',
as in 'Daytona Gray' & 'Nardo Gray':
Again, in Porsche color-speak we take the same color
& called it 'Nardo Grey':
Floorit nailed it! Beer on me in Scottsdale!
is where my 'bar' is licensed! So come on down with your 'Viper' .2 991 gt3!

Eduardo

I'm confused. Wouldn't a sold vehicle need to have a sales history and application for title. I know that dealers in TX act as DMV agents. So why is it that no sales record can be found doing a VIN search? Was there never any paperwork done to obtain the title?

Grey and Gray both describe the same color where gray is predominantly used in America and grey is used everywhere else. Porsche of North Houston is in America.

my issue with that so-called 'Orange' 911
at PNH.
1) First, the color in English is 'Tangerine'.
The color in German is 'Blutorange', which
translates as 'Blood Orange' (the fruit most
commonly associated with Sicily)). No one
that knows the history of Porsche colors ever
calls this hue (018) just plain 'Orange'! So that
is perhaps telling us something already about
the seller's expertise, or perhaps even lack of
concern, for 'originality' in a 'Classic Porsche'!
2) In the period 1970/1971, Porsche would have
used '2323' to indentify a coupe done in 'Tangerine'.
But I don't believe the kunstharzlack (synthethic paint)
plate on the driver's side door-jam would have repeated
itself in the fashion found on this reproduction tag on the
1971 911T at PNH:
*
My original paint 'Crystal Blue' 1970 911E Targa looks like this:
*
This MY1970 'Albert Blue' 911T Targa has this original tag:
**
In neither case the color code is repeated by the factory. That would be 'redundant'!
So Floorit is eligible now for three (3) beers if he decides to visit Scottsdale!
*******
In MY1972/1973, Porsche would have gone to the more traditional
color identification, using 018 instead of the 2310 (Targa) or 2323 (coupe).
It would look like this:
***
Below is the 'Kunstharzlack' plate on my old original factory paint
'Signal Yellow' MY1973 911T:
And a bit of paint trivia for those interested in the history of paint at Porsche.
The 114 was the paint color code for 'Signal Yellow'.
The -9- was the location where it was painted - Porsche Zuffenhausen
The -1 was the code for the paint manufacturer used. 1 stood for 'Lesonal'; 2 would signify 'Glasurit'; 3 would be 'Herberts' for that historic period.
**********
Summary: In my opinion, PNH has to do a better job representing correctly the colors of the Porsches they have for sale.
1) The 'Gulf Blue' 1966 912 is actually 'Golf Blue'!
2) The 'Orange' 1971 911T should be instead identified by it's historical color name in the US market - 'Tangerine'!
3) The 'Meteor Gray Metallic' .2 997 gt3 RS is neither 'Meteor' nor 'Metallic'. It's a solid/uni 'Grey Black'!
I would say that is a 'Failing' grade!

Eduardo,
Thanks for the education and offer of 3 beers. I’d drive down to collect it in my 1967 911S but it is a long drive for that car. I’ll wait until my 2019 GT3 arrives (it will be a cool garage of cars….the first and the latest hot rod 911).
I have been “given an allocation” for the 2019 GT3 (read as …You cannot lock into the system a 2019 GT3 yet...read as....I currently have a V070….read as ….are there any 2019 GT3 forthcoming down the road?…read as…..holding my breath for this to happen).
Keep those beers on ice. See you in 2019....maybe.

Sorry for that diminutive Porsche 'color' diversion. Let's now get back on topic!
Red Route - Thank you for joining the conversation. I never doubted the existence of the "middle guy,"
the guy who stands between the dealer and the eventual end-user; every dealer has their "middle guy"
who makes the flip possible. I must say, you fit the bill: (1) a very long purchase history with the dealer.
(2) Not only do you help flip the car, you're also a buyer yourself. You've owned everything under the sun
(normally all the good stuff), and, most importantly, (3) you're very good friends with the dealership. If they
ask you to help flip a car, you'll do it no questions asked. I don't want to criticize you in any way, because
I'm sure you're actually a really good guy. You're certainly a true Porsche aficionado. I know lots of "middle
guys," and often they're the best, coolest clients of the store. That's why the store asks them for help. If a
store wants you to go ahead and take delivery of a car you have absolutely no intention of keeping, you'll
do it. You say you configured the car... I'll take you at your word. I'll say this, the commission numbers for
the manual transmission GT3's froze much later than the original PDK cars.
In no way does this change my opinion that this car was deliberately flipped. If a dealer knew months ago
this great client of the store no longer wanted this car, why on Earth would they force the client to take
delivery? They knew months ago he didn't want it and ordered a Touring from them instead.
Again, let's turn this into a positive.
Martin - if you agree to stop smearing PCNA and Porsche dealers for one year, I drop this whole thing.
As I mentioned previously, I do believe I have empirical proof that PNH was not honest in the story
behind this particular GT3. I haven't posted that proof yet... I was hoping not to. I was hoping you'd do
the right thing and change your contributions on RL to positive, informative content, rather than smearing
every dealer you can - 7900 mostly antagonistic posts over 4 years. I can't blame you entirely for how RL
has changed over the last few years, but you've played a large part. No one wants "Thunderdome." I'll go
one step further in this deal: if you promise to change your tune, I'll stop posting entirely at RL for 6 months.
How can you turn this deal down?
The choice is still yours.
