Talking Locked in order and build moved up 2 months?!

So after a month of hemming and hawwing I finally came down to the build I was set on and submitted it to the dealer to change from the previous one (freeze point was 12/6). I shot him an email the next day to see if there was any change in the build date and he said the order had locked out, it was in preproduction and build date had moved up 2 months! He said he's never seen this, but speculates we may have jumped the line while someone else was modifying their build. Woohoo!

My final build is:

PJKR9XG2

Late January delivery, perfect for Chicago.

Ha. I am in the some place. January delivery. Likely going to trailer or flatbed it home depending on how bad the weather is. Maybe there will be a clear day (no salt/snow) and I can drive it on snows.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the rumor I read somewhere on RL that there may have been a fire at Porsche's turbo supplier that was pushing back production of regular 911's. If that rumor was true, might make sense that they've moved some GT car production up.

On a more optimistic note, perhaps it could be that Porsche got smart, reduced production f lower margin, hard to sell 718s and is increasing production of GT cars. One can dream...

LOL after my initial elation that was my thought. But at least I can stare at her in the garage, right?

Archimedes,
Did your order get locked in/finalized for the touring model?

Congrats AJAG by the way.

Since you optioned deviated stitching
Did you ever consider steering column wrapped in leather ?
It looks really nice and it’s only 610$ option that sets off the interior.

I did consider it, also went back and forth on Bose. As bloated as my build is, I was really trying to pare it down as much as I could, lol.

No Bose for me either. I added the steering column leather since I went with the yellow deviated stitching. Since you chose 6 speed, your shift boot gets the yellow stitching, should look great.

My build is in, dealer has confirmed allocation, just waiting for it to lock. Dealer says it should lock within the next few weeks.

When I changed my GT3 to a Touring back in early September, it moved production up a month. Now it appears mine is the first (and only) Touring on it's way to North America.

Congrats! I'm not sure if it's the system shifting build orders around as they are submitted or whether the production is being ramped up, but it's cool nonetheless!

Congrats on the allocation, I know you were looking for a long time.

Getting from your usual dealer or another? ADM?

Doesn’t that reflect pretty bad in the cluster?
