This is a known issue and there are known solutions for this.
It baffles me that people still drive them on tracks without them either welded/pinned or with water in them.
Our PCA region requires this.
I was at WGI when an instructor's car did this and to compound it he drove halfway around the track while draining it out.

Ok interesting. I was thinking of doing it given what I had been told but when I was last at the 'ring and asked Manthey about it they didn't think it needed doing as a 7.2 car. Anyway next time i need the engine out I guess I'd get it welded just for peace of mind.

Most tracks won't let you race without evidence of pinning or the use of water wetter.
This is just one in a long line of Porsche engineering disasters, from the company that brought you rubber centered clutch discs, exploding airboxes, the IMS bearing, 997 cooling lines, and burning 4.0s.
Very rarely does Porsche actually take care of these to the end user.
