Default My Brake Pads "Broke"

I threshold brake at the track. I've been using this technique for a while on another track car with StopTech 380/365 steels, a 997 Turbo S with PCCBs and a 991 Turbo S with PCCBs. Have never had an issue.

My 991 GT3 has steels + stock pads / fluid. It's been to the track twice. On the second day, I experienced longer braking and longer pedal travel. Figured I'd boiled the stock fluid and wore the pads low so took the car to GMG for pads+fluid and even a place like GMG was surprised to find that my brake pads has broken apart almost like they had begun to disintegrate. I upgraded my fluid and pads so hope this doesn't happen again but curious if this has happened to others.

Cheers.

Yup once had a bum set of PFC 11 that disintegrated prematurely, emailed photos to my support shop and they got a replacement set sent at no charge .
since switched to Ferodo DS1.11 great pad good life kinder on rotors . The stock pad is made by Pagid , maybe GMG guys really couldn't hound the
P dealer for replacements ?

The OEM pads get like this when they the get thin and get very hot.

Try RS29s all round or Ferrodo DS2500 both are liveable and can stand a fair amount of punishment.

GMG switched me over to Brembo HTC 64 brake fluid and Brembo TS20 pads so hopefully this doesn't happen again!

I guess the question is whether I even want the stock pads, if they are going to do this again to me. Hopefully the Brembo TS20's won't.

TS20 are good dual use pad and I really like the HTC64T brake fluid. Its like endless just easier for my shop to get.

What track were you at and what sort of times? Wondering due to pace. Surprised they wore like that. But if at Autoclub that track turn 3 especially is really really hard on brakes.

i am struggling with the same question, I decided to go with the Giro rotor setup. The pads remain an open question. Leaning towards the RE10's.

Ok great thanks for the info.

Yes Auto Club. Per VBox I was doing 150-152 entering turn 1, tried to hold a minimum speed of 130 for the turn, and would accel usually up to around 140 before threshold braking for Turn 3. I'm sure the pads didn't like that!
