Default Poll: New Car Protection

My new GT3 will be the first Porsche I've order from the factory. All of the previous Porsche's I've purchased have been off of the dealer lot or CPO with a clear bra already installed.

So I've been reading up on the different clear bra options, paint correction, ceramic coatings, etc, and to be honest it's a bit overwhelming.

My car will not be a garage queen, it will occasionally be on the track, and I have to deal with a lot of gravel on the roads here in Colorado. So I'm definitely sold on going with a clear bra. I'm leaning towards covering my entire car so I don't have any obvious edges in the bra and I really want my rear fenders fully covered due to the gravel.

So, what have you all typically been doing with recent GT purchases, or what are people planning on doing with a new GT car post delivery?

Kirby at Colorado Clear Bra did a nice job on my GT4.

Did they do any paint correction? I'm not convinced I need it as long as my dealer is careful during delivery.

Paint correction has nothing to do with how the dealer handles the car....pretty much every car that gets delivered could benefit from it.....

Full front end clear bra. As well as on the side skirts, A-pillars and around the rear wheel arches.

The ceramic coatings are nice & make washing a breeze, but they are supposed to be re-applied every six months. Gets pretty expensive.

No, just a detail first. If you have a major issue, I might go to a paint specialist first. Never had paint correction, but this place in Loveland does paint for cars that win Pebble Beach Concours and yet is reasonably priced.

Glenn is awesome:

Xpel ultimate clear bra. Had more then half my 991.1 wrapped, and going full wrap on my .2
I'm using a NY dealer i have know for years and I live in NV. Using the "right" shop is everything.

I thought that paint correction was a crucial step before any paint protection.

+1 for Kirby. Did a great job on my RS with Suntek which is holding up well. I had a detailer handle the paint beforehand. Don't let the dealer "detail" your car before delivery.

This piece draws attention to the major causes of damage on automotive paints and rates protection options based upon performance. Maybe it will help you decide what's right for you, OP?

While I personally prefer Modesta and it is what is featured, one could insert their own coating of choice in its place for the sake of understanding where coatings fit into protection options for cars in this article:

Detailing Dynamics in Mineola, their work speaks volumes. How much over MSRP are MM asking ? I purchased my 991.1 from them and had it shipped x Country.

You poll should include "clear bra only".

I disagree...IMO paint correction is a mistake, especially on a new car. Like doing a chemical peel on a baby. If the paint is so badly damaged that a portion of the clearcoat needs to be removed...that is what 'paint correction' is...I would refuse delivery. A proper detailing...clay, polish, and protection...followed by regular maintenance...is all a new car should need.

Removing a portion of your clearcoat should be avoided. But if you insist on 'paint correction', if the car will actually be used, it needs to have a film on it from that point on. 'Paint correction' is not something to be repeated, or you will be repainting your car.

I don't believe that to be the case. These coatings should last longer than that, at least 2 years, depending the product chosen
