Default What is the best RS video game set up

Ok, Im wiling to spend a lot of money, not as much as a dedicated sim, what I want is to drive a GT3RS in a good Nurburgring simulation, so which platform Xbox or PS4, which game and what peripherals are you guys using or do you suggest, currently I have GT5 and use a Fanatec Porsche RS wheel

Assetto Corsa. Run it on the PC in VR. You'll need a top-end chassis that's sturdy, a seat that doesn't flex, a good wheel (high-end belt drive or direct drive) and a good hydraulic brake pedal.

The requirements on the PC is not that high, a mid-range gaming rig will suffice.

I wouldn't bother with PS or XBox-based "simulators". Games yes, but consoles titles like PCars or Forza are comically removed from reality.

Agreed. AC is your best bet if you wish to drive the GT3 RS in a simulator.

AC is your best bet if you want to drive GT3 RS in a game, my money would go on GT3 Cup in iRacing. Its not a GT3 RS but then I don't believe the AC is even remotely a simulation.

Another vote for Assetto Corsa on PC using VR. Although the VR headset kinda gives me motion sickness sometimes, it is leaps and bounds above anything on a gaming console.

I used to work for a studio that created a well-known console racing "sim". PC with AC or iRacing is where it is at for realism.

Does anyone know if there is there a "turn key" solution for the whole setup?

I use AC as well however I just subscribed to iRacing today. I have heard that it's a very serious community and the simulation/physics are very good. Just make sure no matter what route you go you have a solid wheel and pedal setup. Direct drive wheels are best but I have no personal experience with them. Only what I have read online. I personally however use a setup from Fanatec and love it. You can have the basic wheel/pedal/base for around 600 and the sky is the limit from there.

Up till a year ago I spent a lot of time on iRacing but its lack of track mods (and until recently, the lack of Porsches) limited its usefulness to me. The tire model then was rather quirky--once the tires slide there's a 50/50 chance that they'll do something unexpected / not-replicable in the real world. Hope they've fixed it

I have been doing the RUF GT on PS3 and have seen the photos for the new Gran Tursimo with real Porsche GT3RS, I would like something simple to do this

^ Well then buy an X-Box and run Forza? You still need to buy yourself a rig chassis and wheel/pedal set...

Really enjoying my Fanatec clubsport wheel on Xbox. Nothing fancy but gets the job done well. Apparently Forzas Nurburgring is "laser scanned" but the force feedback is garbage. Assetto is the best whether on console or PC.

Im just wanting essentially a simple plug and play upgrade to what I am doing now and I want my car in it. Is there a platform that is a good RS simulation?
