Default GT3 cold start and white smoke
New GT3 owner question regarding worsening white smoke from exhaust on cold starts. Also, threw a CEL and am planning to get a reset at the dealership.

Dealer claims that ALL GT3s smoke on starts, but I haven't been able to verify that this is the norm. Especially, worsening smoke production.

I guess I'm a bit nervous since I had a 928S4 with similar issues and it turned out to be a cracked cylinder.

Any info or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This is very common in the 997, but my 991 does not exhibit this symptom.

i have a 2014 991 version and it seems pretty uncommon for this degree of smoking. I'm going to shoot a video to document.

My 2015 did it....sometimes it was quite alarming....no worries

In general, is the root cause for this due to the pistons being horizontally arranged? When I asked this question, someone had told me it is because oil collects on the bottom wall of the cylinder and gets burned off when you start the car. That might be BS and figure it is in line with this thread to seek clarification.

It must only be a Porsche thing. Of the numerous Subaru's I've owned none of them smoked on start up and those are all flat motors. Seems normal for Porsche's though, whatever the reason.

You have the mosquito fogger option installed. All is normal, flat6, just some character.

Backup system...Just confirms engine has oil.

Older version was they would just leak oil on ground to confirm...

Just kidding of course, very normal...

Most of my 911's smoked @ startup...........my 2 Subaru's didn't!

Mine does not smoke at all. Maybe a bad omen. Also, when I replaced my plugs, they were very clean no evidence of oil on them.
