Default 24,000 Mile Service...

I am really glad I like working on my car. I just got a quote for the 24k service, which includes spark plugs, oil change, brake fluid change, air filters, lots of checks, etc.

I ordered the spark plugs, 2 oil filters, and both cabin/frunk air filters for $228. In 2 hours I will have all of them done. Three if I am farting around, having a few drinks and chin wagging. It is really pretty easy to do all of the above.

Dealer wants $1,400 for the spark plugs alone, and $2,000 for the entire service. The brake fluid flush is $250, and they put the high temp stuff in. Looks like I will be doing all but maybe $500 of the service myself again. I just don't see the value in most of this. Of course they will do the balance of the service, checking this and that, and they will note that I did the rest. I keep all receipts.

With the extra $1,200 saved I think I will go buy that leather steering column, with the rest going into the tire fund. Of course, I am not expecting a .2 RS allocation anytime soon, either.

For comparison, my services were:

12k - $1,400
24k - $2,050
36K - $1,100
48K - $1,850

The 36k was done at the same time as the head replacement. So, that's probably why that was a little cheaper.

$1,400 for the spark plug change is robbery... $600-$650; different regions may command slightly more of course.

Rob
The plugs are 26.00 each and take 20min to install. See my DIY on changing them. The air filters are located behind the rear bumper which is an easy remove and replace.

Same dealer I bet is holding up their free allocations demanding a $25k ADM:

Porsche service pricing has gone off the rails. My dealer quoted me $1850 for the 2 year interval service! I guess they believe there are plenty of fools around. Even if you don't like working on your car it is easy to find resputable shops with plenty of P experience that will do the service for a fraction.

I like having the Porsche dealer service records for when I sell the car, don't really know ultimately how important that is, but regardless, answers some pertinent questions that might be posed. Anyway, not something really in my skill set either... guess I am a fool.

Good on you OP...

Absolutely! . But seriously, the spark plugs, oil change and filters are a few hours work. Nothing technical about any of it.

I had to ask twice. So $1,400 for the entire service? Nope, just the plugs. Then an uncomfortable silence.

$12.50 each at Pelican! I replaced the first set myself last year. Also took off the rear bumper. That was my first DIY project. Super easy! You are right.

I do the easy stuff, let them do the balance, and they note on the computer everything was done (customer replaced plugs, etc.). No biggie.

I think I paid around $2200 for my 2 yr/12k mi service which included everything (brake flush, oil, filters, plugs, etc) at my local so cal dealer. I have gotten lazy -dealership is very close to my house + loaner car. I felt guilty for paying so much so I called a well known independent Porsche shop that u all know in so cal and they were a few hundred less. I guess it's a southern Ca thing!

Definitely way more reasonable. But it isn't even about the money. Working on these cars is a breeze. I would even say enjoyable, and I have no lift. These cars were designed to be serviced, at least the routine stuff was. Plugs, oil changes and the air filters (cabin and engine) are things I will always do myself.
