When I asked about the latest allocations issued by PCNA, my medium sized dealer (strictly MSRP) who I do trust and over many years have been entirely straight in their dealings with me, replied with:

"The GT3 allocations for the entire calendar year of 2018 have been issued. We got three more in addition to your car. The next build slot after your car (Sept 2017) is August, 2018 which means it will not be here until October of 2018. The other two are October and November builds which are 2019 calendar year deliveries or at least one of them will be. Most early 2018 production slots are apparently taken by all the pts cars. They say this is the entire dealer allocation but there are always a few in their pockets for contests and to slip the big boys a few extra, at least that is what historically happens."

I hate to also pass the following news. In their opinion anyone who is on a list and as yet not been contacted by their dealer and given their commission number should not hold their breath as there is a zero percent chance of getting one!

The only proviso to the above would be the clandestine order and premium selling practices that some dealers engage in.

Btw, my dealership got one less .2 GT3 allocation than they were initially told they'd get.

Sorry for the tidings friends.

That sounds even better (insurance). Someone who actually did ED said that discounts were available for a wide variety of things, including hotels, restaurants, etc. His opinion was that it adds up over a trip like this. Probably track discounts as well. It sounded pretty awesome.

If I ever get another GT3 I am doing ED. No doubt.

Thankfully, Evil didn't suggest the
old 'drop-your-pants & bend-over'

for getting him a gt3. But a clever
lawyer might dispute that & assert
that is precisely what Evil suggested
we do!

Thank for researching for us these past gems
from Evil's previous posts on Rennlist mcsmcs1.
And indeed these previous posts need to be read
so that Rennlisters understand fully Evil's mindset!
And it's rather an unsual mindset, not normally
found often on Rennlist! In fact I would categorize
it as 'farfromcommon'!

Go at a slow time if you can. For me I am a long
time Porsche owner, but I never bought a new one
before (long hood owner, recently bought a 993,
previously was a lotus guy) so I did not have much
of a dealer relationship so I set out to build one.
Even if you don't overpay, buying a second car or
trading something desirable the dealer can sell
CPO might be enough to bump you into a slot.
Dealers want good customers. They want referrals.
As tempting as selling one car to someone out of
state to get some quick ADM money is and no
doubt a lot of dealer do that, PCNA really frowns
on that so other factors have to come into play
for MSRP sales. I suppose we would all like the
dealers to go down the list and some do but that
is not realistic, especially for people out of the
area of the dealer or flippers (my dealer was
extremely unhappy about flippers).

And yes, I have an allocation, now I just need
to get my color (currently in feasibility) approved
or pick another one, or drop PTS.

Someone in another thread posted about a dealer
in the Midwest asking $10k over for GT3 allocations
which had six available. I think that is fair for a
non-PTS car and would happily pay that. For
non-PTS allocations that is what I was able to
find ($10k over, some $15k, some more, none
at MSRP) separately from the posted Midwest
dealer. We are taking about a $145-190k car
depending on options. $10k is not that much
and I anticipate that secondary market cars
will be more than that over MSRP, especially
MT cars.
More - much more - of this incredible stuff!
I love it!

I remember where it was. Right here
on this forum on my 'Reference Guide
to PTS' thread. Charlie from Southern
California. His handle revealed quite a
bit about him - 'farfromcommongt3'.
His gt3 might have been rare, but he
was...rarer! The story was his father
bought 14 cars from a Porsche dealer
(I later identified it as 'Auto Gallery')
& he got the gt3RS. Weird story, and
I hate to repeat myself, but we was
even weirder than the story! He was
going to buy us all a drink at Montoya's
Baja Cantina's dinner at Rennsport V.
Did it happened? I didn't see it! Then
I heard he was buying a PTS gt3 RS
from Isringhausen Imports. And I
do not think that sale turned out as
planned.

Yes, crazy story. And a wild & crazy guy!
I can't refer you a page in the thread
for you to read his posts because...well
'farfromcommongt3' deleted them all.
His first one was around 11/09/2015,
in between Post #977 & #978:

https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...to-pts-66.html

But they are gone. You can still catch
whiff of it from others that quoted part
of what 'farfromcommongt3' posted.

Why would your dealer say this? Is it already conclusive that ALL .2GT3 production will stop in November 2018 as that is how far out the current allocations were granted?

Did he mean there is a "slim" chance of getting one "next year?"

I can't answer for sure but my assumption would be that .2 GT3 production would stop end of 2018 or soon thereafter. The last production units for the US would be model year 2019.

His statement, which refers to his dealership...quote "zero chance"!

My take on all this is that demand far outstrips production and PAG have a finite amount of time before the next 911 model goes into production. That in my opinion would be 2019-20.

You need to nail whoever told you this down on those discounts because a lot of them sound like wishful thinking. Lufthansa has a deal with Porsche but I was able to get a cheaper and better routed flight on my own for example. Restaurants I visited in Stuttgart cared less that I was doing ED

Eduardo,

We all may be a bit crazy in our own ways. For example, I think it is crazy to have a PTS GT3 and drive it only 500 miles at no more than 4500rpm in two years.

And you are probably right, I am selling myself short, I am that crazy, I am just not that rich. Lol. Charlie seems like a great and interesting character and was one those (including you) who have been very helpful thus far (at least I think it is the same Charlie I talked to).

I'm probably one of the most crazy guys here, remember I track ALL my GT cars including my 4.0 which will see the track this fall.

A different kind of 'crazy' from your affliction,
mind you, but your point is well taken. Yes, it's
totally'crazy' to only have driven that 'Signal Green'
gt3 only 1094 miles in two years! Mech33 asked
me the same thing a few days ago!

And it's not only the case of that gt3. I ordered
custom '12 Boxster Spyder that I drove for less
than 2K miles before I sold one year later:

I owned for 15 years a pristine original paint 1965 356
C Cabriolet...and I drove it LESS than 1000 miles in all
of those 15 years! I bought it from its original owner
with 38,878 miles! And I sold it 15 years later with only
39,500 miles on the odo!

In nearly ten year ownership, I have driven my 1970
'Crystal Blue' 911E Targa for just a few thousand miles.
My longest trip was from our second home in Vail (CO)
to Salt Lake City (PCA Parade in 2012). And then to
Carmel (CA). Again, original paint & interior, approx.
55K original miles, third owner, PCA Parade winner
(Judges Choice) personally chosen by Dr. Wolfgang
Porsche & Hans Peter Porsche!

And I have a mezzanine at my Toy Barn car condo
in Scottsdale with a valuable collection of mostly
Porsche 356 rare parts. It was accumulated in
20 years of 'hunting & gathering' at swap meets
(Pomona, Carlsen, etc) all over the US & Europe.
Once eBay took over (fishing in a stocked pond)
the fun of the hobby was over for me! I parked
it all in boxes like my cars...and not 'used' them
at all. I now will either display them or sell them
off!

***
I am not proud of my affliction. I am trying to get
'cured'. The '73 914 2.0 'Ravenna Green' I bought
last year is a repaint & I have no issues driving it
anywhere & parking it.

I am also planning to get soon a '17 .2 991 S coupe
with a manual transmission that I can use on a daily
basis. I had a car enthusiast friend here in Troon that
died last year of a heart attack at age 66. We were the
same age. He use to buy new & old sport cars all the
time, but was afraid of driving them because they could
get a rock chip or parking lot ding. When he passed
away, his wife sold all the cars at pennies on the dollar.
I am trying to learn a lesson from his death...and change
my bad habits! Mostly because I don't want my wife, as
a widow, the pleasure of selling all my valuable stuff too
damn 'cheap'!

***
Keep up your crazy style & keep posting as you see fit.
We need something different from the 'normal' here at
Rennlist. And anytime you want, I think I can get you
a discount if you want to sign up for Martin & Mooty's
seminar: 'How to Beat The P-Stealers At Their Own Game'!
I think you can learn something...but that is just a guess!

I admire your dedication Eduardo.

I have a similar affliction with Land Rover parts (don't ask, it's insane how many I have and the lengths I went to getting them). I have a 1959 I restored in college which I never drive, it is too nice. My D90 I have left in full patina so I can enjoy it. I will sleep in it before I sell it. My 110 project will never be done because then I will have to drive it. My jag is likewise a garage queen although if I sold her (I won't) I could maybe cover the cost of PTS on my GT3.

I did daily drove my Elise in the area around your favorite city for a number of years. Snow and ice and all. Rock chips never bothered me. I planned to own that car forever. During that time the motor blew (oil cooler line failure while GF was driving) and I swapped the motor with the help of a Land Rover friend. While I was at it, I coated every body bolt with anti-seize so when I had to do it again they would all come out easy. I look at wrenching the way many here look at racing or cars and coffee. Unfortunately, after about 50k miles the Elise met an Eduardo's 997 signal green like demise. So I bought an Exige S. I sold that when I could not drive it, but I got better, and I figure I should get the car I want to enjoy while I can. I am in my 30s so not being able to drive a sports car or even walk all that well put things into perspective. I am sure sharp minds and RLs will get many GT3s at true MSRP like you and some others did with the signal/arena/fashion grey cars (although some paid over for them), but this is my crazy plan so I am going to see it through. To each their own, but life is short so get things you enjoy and enjoy those things while you can.

PS as much as I worry about the next owner of anything I have and sometimes curse the former owner for SPOTS -- Stupid Previous Owner Tricks -- I have never begrudged a former owner for enjoying and using something as it was intended. I rather prefer it that way as then I feel ok doing the same. I think you should take the crystal blue car out for a ride more often. If it gets a rock chip, well, the next owner will understand.
