Default No call from dealer = hopeless?

Should I just get mentally prepared for it?

Well, I guess extra 170k in my savings account.

Get a similarly optioned low mile 2015 gt3 for just below MSRP. That's what I did. Couldn't be happier.

Agreed. I think most everyone will get a car who actually wants/can afford one.

Yup, it's getting crazy here on Rennlist. Patience, you'll get one.

Here is a suggestion:

Call your SA (phones work both ways) tell them you are really serious about a GT3, remind them that you are a good customer (if true -- I bought X porsches from you) and know more allocations were just released, ask him to speak to the GM and tell him you are willing to help out the dealer to get an allocation (which you should be willing to do -- trade a car at a price favorable to the dealer, buy another Porsche for you or your spouse at a price favorable to the dealer would be good ideas), and ask to make an appointment today to speak to them about what you could work out.

Need it now?

Manual: GT4

Otherwise 991.1 GT3.

Lots of both to choose from. Or just be patient. You will eventually get a car but it may take a while.

One difference is that then it was quarter by quarter and now it is all C/Y 2017 build allocations.

Although PCNA released allocations for production from January '18 through Nov. '18 with both 2018 and 2019 cars, I've feeling there's potential for more allocations coming since it is very possible that the factory can increase their production slightly and crank out a few hundred more units to satisfy the demands.

I would grab a 458. Prices have come down. You can get a 2013 with very low mileage for a good price these days

Wait until Nov/Dec and cut a deal on one
