A good dealer may let you sell the car, run the transaction through the dealer for a small fee and then the car can also qualify for CPO. There are lots of ways to make a transaction happen. A dealer may not want your car for many reasons but are willing to help if you are buying a new car from them.

I went to my dealer where I have bought two new 911's, including my 991.1GT3 for MSRP. It was a disappointment to say the least. They are now selling to the highest bidder from what I can tell. Every question was answered in a nebulous fashion. He said that their first allocations are going for $20K-30K over MSRP. I wanted to ask him "which one? 20 or 30?" Why would he sell for 20 over if he could get 30 over? And BTW he hadn't got his allocations in yet.
I asked him where I was on the list and he said I was "high" on the list for someone who's gonna pay MSRP. But nothing firm.
The whole experience leaves me thinking (knowing) that they aren't being completely forthcoming with me.
If one comes up for me, I'll buy it, otherwise I'll keep the one I have now.

All dealers that were getting first round allocations have gotten them months ago. The only way he is not misleading you is thinking he may get one for you second round. Occasionally a dealer may get an extra car but that is usually a surprise. Sounds like he just wants you to hang around with no commitments.

That's a reasonable analysis. I knew about the first round of allocations, that's why it seemed strange that he said no allocations yet. Purposely nebulous in that he may have meant they haven't been delivered yet. Although I don't know the purpose of that.

Another horse will have to be beaten dead.
You will get all the proud MSRP folks posting and you will get very few ADM folks posting. One the diehard RLers that paid over will be embarrassed. The rest that paid over have more money than sense and probable don't even know about RL but they will be the first to C&C in their .2. Pointless
