The McLaren F1 has a manual transmission.

Just saturday we had a PCA presentation at a guys garage in a industrial place that had lots of garages. A couple garages over was a guy who had 8 Porsches and one 458 with a GT3 on order. 7 911s
from 993, 996, 997 991 and a 718 Spyder plus his yellow 458 Spyder. His GT3 wont come in for awhile so we are going out for a drive in mine and he wants to swap cars with the 458. So I can try the Ferrari there. When I had a 996 Manthey GT3 I drove a friends 360 and I liked the GT3 better. So I am somewhat familiar with the F Cars. But I have known CJ for a long time and would do business with him
in a heart beat. Met him at a 993 party in Thousand Oaks back in 2003 I think or 2004 before he had his first 997 GT3.
How did he get his hands on a 718 Spyder?

Thanks... every single person, business, builder etc raves about the 720S. Very rare to hear universal acclaim like this.... Here is one we did in a brighter hue....

I’m sure many of you already know this. But I just watched Randy Pobst driving the 720s around Big Willow on Motortrend on-demand. Laid down a record lap of 1:21.75 around the track. Just wow, around 1.8 seconds faster than the 918. I know, not the same conditions, but still very impressive.

here is the motor trend article
http://www.motortrend.com/news/2018-...st-review/amp/

Edit: cant wait to see what Randy can do with the GT2 RS.

720 is a very impressive machine. When Porsche no longer makes NA cars, I will likely look at Mclaren.

And can you imagine what the LT version will bring to the table ?! I'm in total awe of the Pista at the moment. But that LT could be a giant slayer.

But again, I'd like to see average laptime over 30 minutes of nonstop lapping, to filter out the one lap wonders from the real deal !

Wonder if it's going to take being a current 675LT owner to grab the 720LT - if that's the case a 675LT Spider becomes even more appetizing.

How does a 720S compare to a 488GTB, practically speaking? I went to order a Huracan Performante and could not fit in the car, not enough headroom so looking at a GTB now but the Mclaren is intriguing.

Mclaren road car success has been great over the last few years. In the contrast their F1 track success has decline.
They need to refocus.

Huracans are preposterously claustrophobic

Mclaren is significantly lighter with significant grip and suspension above a 488.

488 sound is better than 720

Performance for the 720 speaks for itself, it's the fastest road car ever released without a seven figure price tag.

I'd like to see the GT2RS vs the 720S but keep in mind there will be a higher spec 720LT type and a 488 pista to fight eventually.

Curious what the availability is of the 720. Can you just walk into CJ's or any other authorized dealer and order a custom specced 720 for sticker (or less)? Porsche owner here, but just sitting watching NCAA hoops and showed my wife the 720 a few posts back. She says better looking than the Pista

Sweet, I am going to have to check it out. Watched some video reviews, I really like the glass canopy effect.

As to the Perf, it wasn't so much claustrophobia as it was my head literally touching the roof with the seat down to the lowest level. I am only 6'-3" I am not an NBA player and yet my head was touching big time, not just hair....my head. The factory was unwilling to accommodate a lower seat. I couldn't believe it, it was like I was Shaq or something.

McLaren looks really nice, the first one they make that I really like the looks of.
