It's amazing how fast McLaren can bring a car to production from debut.
Why does it take Porsche over 6 months (e.g. 991.2 GT3) to get their new products to owner's garages?

I have been getting increasingly interested in the 570S so went to a dealer today to check one out in person. Drives with incredibly well. A bit soft below 2000 rpm but manageable. But...it gave me the overall feeling of a kit car with regards to its build quality. Panel gaps, surfaces and textures are nothing special. Porsche is much better...but damn, is it freakin' fast!!

Jimmy I agree. There will always be a NA GT car in my garage.

Once it's up I agree it is more functional, but I feel like I need to be planning ahead or blocking traffic while waiting for the car to lift. 991 is very fast once charged and to me that makes it safer to use.
Really my only minor complaint about the car is I wish the lift was faster.

PAG generally runs on a 7 year development cycle with priorities being changed from time to time - e.g. They were talking about the 911 Hybrid in their investor materials in 2014 and perhaps even before.
I think McLaren runs a little shorter, but has also been very open with their model range increase targets over the coming years.

I speculate that they have very few synchronization problems with suppliers because they couldn't afford special wishes in the first place.
Software is an interesting question, since McLaren obviously has to make a lot of it, and somehow it is on time and working. You could speculate that they have a much more modern software development process than traditional supercompanies which make software with a process more suitable for Cuneiform stone tablets.

Strong Mclaren presence at Amp today.. as I waited for tires on P1 to cool down, I took the P0.25 out for a spin and it simply blew me away!

All jokes aside... nothing is more impressive than a mclaren on track. If you take the gt4 clubsport as reference of what is a nice track machine which is light but a bit gutless, and a p1 as a rip-roaring beast which makes you grin as you powerslide out of turns but pulverized tires and really had no ability to flow.. neither are goldilocks. But then you have the 675LT which has 80-90% of usable power of p1 without the heavy battery, and which feels somewhere in the realm of lightness and grip of the gt4 clubsport except with a beast of a motor, AND... you can drive it home. WOW, what a machine.. You truly realize the value of the carbon chassis investment which mclaren made.. in comparison the Ferrari 488 we had out today was an obese pig, it couldn't even play in same realm. if as the mclaren folks say, the 720s is as fast and lighter than a 675LT, and that's their "base" car... then mclaren has just jumped so far ahead of everyone else that it's basically game over for Porsche with their GT2, and Ferrari until they switch to a lighter carbon platform for their production cars. I'll post some video in coming days.. the Maccas just ruled the roost.
Porsche 911R a fun toy in comparison, bulletproof.. but a bit agricultural in comparison. Definitely a road car for the twisties, doesn't belong on track but was beautiful to have it there regardless.
