Default 911 RSR.. what, is this?

end of 991.1 production?
race car or road car?
4.2 NA or turbo?
mid-engine or rear (Huge diffuser and window vents suggest mid?)

Race car. Looks like a of the 991.2 RSR. Vents are used to reduce pressure in the cabin.

Engine moved forward, looks like the whole rear monocoque can be unlatched for engine access ala GT1, huge rear diffusers making best of extra rear space available, seat with halo, 991 GT2 style front PU, looks like its running 21" roadies on the picture to add visual drama...

This the new GTE/GTLM race car that has already been discussed extensively on this forum.

https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...t-sebring.html

Press conference is Wednesday at 1:15 Eastern, 10:15 Pacific. The press conference timing was just announced/confirmed, but FSW has confirmed that this is the newest RSR on his twitter some time ago.

There is an IMSA test going on right now at Daytona, although no on track action until tomorrow. Porsche factory effort have skipped this test, however, electing for more private running at COTA after Thanksgiving.

The profile including the rear wing looks strikingly similar to what was being used in the VLN series circa 05/06. They were running aero that the ALMS and other like series weren't allowed to run. Manthey seems to have been ahead of its time with its body kit. I saw this car at Rennsport and it I thought it was gorgeous. The obvious difference though is where the engine is placed.

yea, it's interesting how they extend the wing back so dramatically, effectively extends the aero profile of the car.. guess the rules aren't as tight as in F1 regarding aero.

GTE / GTLM rules for 2016 season allowed rear wings to move up and back quite dramatically. this was also accompanied by the diffusers on most other cars.

In WEC compare 2015 RSR (ie, GTE Am) vs. 2016 RSR (ie, GTE Pro). Wing placement is very different.
