Glad I skipped both the GT4 and GT3 and if I had to do over again I would have side stepped the 3RS and gone directly to the 2RS. For me the 2RS is the car; it's a keeper. Now I want to add the Mercedes AMG-GTR.

Every time you take your foot off the accelerator it sounds amazing. When I had my 3RS every time I would turn on the music my wife would state "I don't want hear the music I want to hear the engine". When we are in the 2RS and I turn on the music I reflexly shut it off so we can both hear the engine......never thought I'd say this but the engine symphony is way better.

Yes
You should have "side stepped" the 50K ADM on the 3 RS

While the 2rs sounds better than I expected it does not sound better than NA to my ears by any stretch of the imagination

Straight pipe it. If ever a car needed it it’s a GT2RS.

I wondered how the sound would be on the 2RS while I was waiting for it. I always enjoyed the sounds my GT3s and 3RS made, especially at redline. 2000rpm less was going to be a big change. At street rpm's, the 2RS sounds better, even much better, especially with the exhaust valves open. It has a menacing growl at low rpms that's kinda fun. And it doesn't need to be any louder. Once I got 700 miles on it, I took it to the track for some exercise. I wasn't trying to set any records, just scrub the tires and start to get the feel of the car. Well it feels pretty darn good. The way it pulls out of corners is the best I've ever felt. And the noise it makes doing it is pretty good too. I expected the big Hoover on steroids sucking sound of a Turbo S but it's not there. Just that low, throaty growl until you lift for a corner. Then it pops and bangs as it decelerates under engine braking. That sounds great! Is it the best sound ever? No, my personal favorite it still my 650S followed by my GT350. You know what though, the way that 553 ft lbs of torque feels, the car could sound like my ex-wife and I wouldn't care.

The 2RS is awesome. The sound is great no complaints. More throaty than the 720s.
Not sure the motivation on the GTR but it begs the question, why?

wait until you install a GMG exhaust it sounds so sick

I agree 2RS all day everyday over my 3RS. GMG exhaust backfires when you let off throttle at 5k rpm listen to video clip below

Agree, the sound of the 2RS is intoxicating......hard to stop driving this car. Regarding the GTR, just love the look and the sound of that car.

Thanks for posting, as several of us already know the 2RS drives, looks, and sounds other worldly. When I drive the 2RS and then idle it for a short while the growl sounds like I am sitting on an angry Lion........it's absolutely beautiful. I had the 3RS and it wasn't the sound that was an issue although it is no where as good as the 2RS but it was the lack of power. When I rung out the 3RS I was waiting for the payoff that never came.

I'm impressed there's even a discussion as to whether the 2RS sounds better than the 3RS, given the 3RS is 9000 and NA.

@916Bob - beautiful car and great post. Your ex must not sound as bad as mine or maybe I just have to go drive a 2RS again.

"When I rung out the 3RS I was waiting for the payoff that never came."

I only have 50 miles on my 2RS because of non-stop snow storms, but this pretty much sums up my 3RS after driving the 2RS. It just seems to take an eternity to get to 9k rpms now and there is all this sound and show with it that just doesn't pack a punch. I feel bad even saying that because the 3RS is so good and I've enjoyed that car, but the 2RS may have taken its place in my heart.
