Default Paint Code Decipher

Can someone decipher this paint code for a used car I am buying.
Got his from the dealer.

Body color L998
Exterior paint color 9898
individual body color code LZ54

So what is the exterior color then?

Thanks

PM Eduardo (Z356 on RL). He is the master of all Porsche colors, he loves the heritage of Porsche colors, and probably has more knowledge than anyone working for Porsche.

I Googled Z54. The other codes 9898 and L998 are generic codes for PTS iirc. The L before the Z54 seemed redundant too. So I assumed the paint code was Z54. Which is Meissen blue. Eduardo, or someone smarter than me, can correct me if it's wrong!

Posted by joe sackey on f chat. He seems like a trusted authority on f cars, so I'd assume his info is probably quite good on p cars too.

Meissen Blue (Meissen Blau) was one of first paint color options for Porsche's first production sports car, the Type 356, and thus will always be a Porsche Ag heritage color of significance.

Porsche Ag internal color codes are as follows:

1957 to 1959 - 356A Meissen Blue 5703

1957 to 1959 - 356A Meissen Blue 703

1958 to 1959 - 356A Meissen Blue 317

The color was revived in 2007 by Porsche Ag with a new color code:

2007 - Meissen Blue Z54
If the car in question is 2007 or later, then it's probably this.

Daniel:

Smarter than you? That is going to be difficult to find, Mr. Heart Surgeon!
And you are right once again about the color in question!

The color has been approved for the 991 & Cayenne as of summer/
early fall of 2015! We need to remind everyone that just because
this color was approved for the 997 model, the hue needed to be
re-tested re: 991/981 models when the latter were introduced in
2011.

***

This is/was Joe Sackey's .2 997 RS in PTS 'Meissen Blue':

We discussed the car with Joe himself on my other thread
on 'Custom Ordering a 991', starting on post #336:

https://rennlist.com/forums/991/7085...nd-you-23.html

'Meissen Blue' was a late 356A color for 1957/1959. It was
wildly popular at the time. And it's seen quite often on these
period 356's to the present.

Saludos,
Eduardo
