My dealer advised today GT2 and GT2RS is coming for 2018 delivery.

So I guess there will be no GT3s or GT3RS's coming for quite some time as Porsche is ramping up for the new GT2.

Are the 918 boys getting first dibbs again?

I've been saying... no 991.2 GT3 and no 991.2 GT3RS.

Although Porsche might badge the GT2 as GT3 and GT2RS as GT3RS... but I doubt this going to happen, they can charge more for the GT2 badges.

Who knows at this point?!

The 991.2 GT3 is coming. More photos of it testing at the Ring were taken earlier this week.

They can charge crazy prices for the GT2RS and sell to the 1% and charge more reasonable prices for the .2 GT3 and sell to the 5%.

The better business decision is to make both, sell both, but to different demographics, and thus make more money for Porsche.

Hmm, will Porsche give up the chance to make more money, no, I thought not.

Guys I have reported this in other posts months ago and I had this info confirmed yet again yesterday that PAG has confirmed to dealers in Europe the following dates for production.

GT3 June 2017
GT2 RS early 2018
GT3 RS June 2018

In usual fashion, model announcements to the market will be 4-6 months in advance. GT3 formal release is Geneva 2017.

Also, I was told yesterday that the 991.2 GTS may be delayed because the 991.2 S/4S is selling so well that there is no need to rush the GTS to market to act as the end of life sales kicker for when sales start to slow down.

According to the above this means no GT2 only GT2 RS. I am surprised to see the GT2 RS will be released before the .2 GT3 RS

If i am not mistaken the GTS is usually launched last in the range but i could be wrong, so it would be like 6 months before launching the 992.

thank you chris.

GT3 June 2017 - with N/A 3.8 or 4.0? +, Manual we can take already as a fact i guess.?
GT2 RS early 2018 - i´m with you
GT3 RS June 2018 - big question for me if N/A 4.0? (if GT3 goes 4.0 - the RS goes for sure bigger - and this i can´t really imagine for the normal RS) for a limited RS-Cup-Edition i could imagine a 4.2 or so.

As I have also written before, 991.2 GT3 will be 4.0, manual as an option but limited to around 40% of production due to supply constraints and the fact that the only significant demand for a manual is the US market. Other markets strongly favour PDK.

AFAIK, no one in dealer land knows anything about the engine of the GT2. It's all speculation no matter what you read.

Easy for you to say. 😉 Lol!

Have fun with your frog.

991.2gt3 is definitely 4.0! From a very good source....
As some of you might have read, the R wasn't suppose to have the 4.0l. For different reasons Porsche decided against the 3.8.

Well given all the combinations of speculation here it seems that there will be no more 991.1GT3RSs
