Whereas, a GT3 RS on the flip market starts at $280,000. So not really a valid comparison.

After the gen 1 engine issues, you really think Porsche is going to push the same displacement engine even further? I doubt...I saw 4.0L for the 991.2

I agree with you, but then that begs the question of what's left for the .2 RS that will likely follow. is there any more room for that motor to jump to 4.2? I imagine not much.

while I can't recall any Porsche model of the past that was not been succeeded by a car with at least a modest power bump, I really don't think it's needed with this car. I, for one, would be no less excited for the 991.2 GT3 if it kept the same 3.8L and just included some very mild evolutionary enhancements/touches to the exterior/interior styling and chassis/damping.

GT3 June 2017
GT2 RS early 2018
GT3 RS June 2018

In usual fashion, model announcements to the market will be 4-6 months in advance. GT3 formal release is Geneva 2017.

Also, I was told yesterday that the 991.2 GTS may be delayed because the 991.2 S/4S is selling so well that there is no need to rush the GTS to market to act as the end of life sales kicker for when sales start to slow down.

Chris,

Do you know whether the 991.2 GT3 will have a 9k redline? Or will it be a staggered approach like the one on the current 991.1 GT3 RS?

Thanks.

Agreed, an enhanced experience - the engine is fine.

One enhancement I'd like to see on the 1.2 GT3 (aside from any possible displacement change in the engine), is the gearing on the PDK.

For some strange reason I don't think we will see a 991.2rs!

And I think it has to do with Motorsport regulations. 😉

I don't think anybody know this yet outside of the Motorsport division. From a personal perspective, I don't mind if it is a bit less. Anything over 8K is fine by me.

Anything over 8K is insane anyways.
