I am looking for a Manual Street version of the GT3 and if it is I will get.

I think that some are assuming this will be manual GT3....its not. While it will have engine and HP, there is a reason that this is not called a GT3. This is the special car that is NOT turbocharged in the new lineup that they referenced a while back. They say lightweight but we'll see what Porsche definition is of "lightweight" these days.

I will be adding as well not replacing but I want to see final spec as its not set in stone yet.

I agree. I think the conundrum will be do you want GT3 performance (manual very cool) but in a car that is such a sleeper it may look like a C2S going down the road. It will be a value holder for sure (perfect for the speculators but maybe not the same buyer as an RS buyer? Thoughts?

Light weight will be achieved through narrow body, smaller wheels, smaller brakes, maybe lightweight battery. They're not going back to the drawing board on this one.

In concept, I think I still prefer the GT3.

Hopefully they go all out and do CF Cup doors, CF Hood etc - original 911R only weighed 800kg, so need to keep it true to the original. Hearing it will be limited production, so watch for $225k+ MSRP...

Maybe they'll load it up with a double bubble magnesium roof and cf hood (since RS production will be over) plus unique interior and special paint colour and decals (think Sport Classic, looks- and price-wise). Sort of what the rennsport reunion edition was to the GTS, only on Motorsport steroids.

918 owning friend was told special carbon interior (door cards etc).. to make it lighter.. not JUST thinner + smaller wheels. cool that it should have the 4.0 engine.. torque-monster. but, all these things together mean it is going to be very expensive in other words. not a perfectly de-contented driver's car like the RS America was.. more of a collector's unobtanium "lets maximize our profit on this one" product from Porsche.

with as few as they "say" they are making.. chances of non-918 owners buying one seem to be very slim from what I can tell. if they truly only make 800 or so, that means some dealer will not even get a car.

I'm speculating these are the 2013 GT3 engines that Porsche swap out and refurbished, hence 600-800 cars. MSRP? Definitely less than the GT3s as it won't have the GT badge and no GT components. My guess is GTS money.

If they make this car using a regular 991 911 chassis, but a manual, with a 4.0L RS engine, light RS battery, standard PCCB, CF door panels, CF fenders, CF frunk cover, basically all the CF that you get with an RS, plus CF doors, +/- magnesium roof (given the pain of producing the RS roof, I'm not sure they will include it on the 911R, it's much easier to make CF coverings for a car), if they do all of that, I could see the weight getting down to 3,000 lbs.

A modern 911 that weighs only 3,000 lbs, is manual and has the 4.0L RS engine, would be a hot collectors item, on par with the previous 997 GT3RS 4.0.

I expect the 997 GT3RS 4.0 is what is inspiring the 911R. However, as they understand the want better this time for a powerful, lightweight, manual 911, Porsche will charge >$200,000 for the 911R, even if 98% of the parts for this car will come from the parts on the shelf from the RS, GT3, and 991 911.
