No that´s not my car, this car has non original clear side indicators... :-)

My car gets it´s service checks at Porsche Classic and not at Porsche Zentrum Stuttgart, where you took that pic.

@Eduardo - Have fun at the Ring, don´t forget to visit the Pistenklause-Restaurant. BTW the "Carrera RS"-Badge on that L37E Violet-Blue 964 sits to low...

You can not rely on a badge to be sure it is a real 964 RS. I think a lot of copies are out now, especially with the price level of the reals now.

No, my RS has a factory fitted "Matter-Cage" in Polarsilver.
It´s a 1992 RS, which I bought in 1995 from a German Porsche Centre - at this time some cars were standing for years in the showrooms, very few people were interested.

As some say: THE track-car, before track-days existed...

Beautiful car! And great that you enjoy it and drive it.

It's amazing how things have changed. Not being able to sell these great cars. Same thing with 996rs, they ended up sitting unsold for long period of time. In the end they only managed to sell 682!
Little different situation with 991rs.

Dear Rennlisters:

As this ongoing visit to Porsche & Germany progresses, I have not had time to post yet all the stories I want to relate to the readers. So that you have an idea of what's coming EVENTUALLY on future postings, here is a list of what I hope to report on:

1) Complete 'Part II' of Luncheon discussions with 'Porsche Exclusive' Executives Dr. Tobias Donnevert & Boris Apenbrink on July 17th.

2) Tour of 'Porsche Exclusive - Zuffenhausen' with 'Porsche Exclusive' design consultant Sven Theis on July 17th.

It includes a visit to the infamous 'Wailing Wall' of PTS:



And a special tour of 'Porsche Exclusive' workshop behind the Factory Delivery Center, where your 'Sonderwunsch' ('special wishes' ) do come true for your custom Porsches!

3) A personal tour of factory restoration shop and museum by Dieter Landenberger, manager of the Historical Archives at Porsche, to whom I am particularly grateful for his hospitality!

4) Music Festival at Bietigheim-Bissingen next to the Romantik Hotel Friedrich von Schiller where we were staying. By incredible luck, met a fellow dinning guest at our hotel named Holger Härter, who was the former Financial Chief (Leiter der Finanzabteilung) of PAG & the Automobil Holding SE. He was the confidant & right hand man of Wendelin Wiedeking, ex-CEO at PAG. Both Holger & Wendelin are local residents of Bietigheim-Bissingen and are frequent guests at the Von Schiller where we were staying! So more about my conversations with Holger at this festive night at Bietigheim-Bissingen on a future post.

5) After a few relaxing days in the historical medieval city of Rothenburg ob der Tauber:



...and our third Romantik hotel further north at Volkach on the river Main:



...which hopefully you can locate on the map below so you see where they are located in relationship to our first stop at Bietigheim-Bissingen near Zuffenhausen:



...I took a break from Porsche-related stuff and searched the site of a crashed WWII US 8th Air Force B-17 bomber just south of the city of Schweinfurt!



...and we find remnants from that B-17 on Monday, July 20th, some 72 years after it was shot down over Germany!



This is not my first time exploring this historical subject in the region, as you can see from this article published in 2013 in the local 'Main Post' newspaper:

6) After a quiet time in Traben-Trarbach on the Mosel River where my wife & I enjoyed a delightful 2013 Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Auslese (Dr. Hermann) while on a Mosel River cruise to the old town of Bernkastel:



...we then made a stop at the mecca in Germany for all of the world's auto enthusiasts: the famous Nürburgring!

After arriving at our present & excellent hotel in Düsseldorf (Derag Livinghotel De Medici), we prepare for a few days of Porsche-related tours:

a) Visit of the Bensberg Porsche Zentrum near Cologne which specializes in 'Porsche Exclusive' custom orders and PTS:



b) Tour with Michael Roock of his operation in Leverkusen:

That is what I have done so far in just over one week in Germany. I still have a day here in Düsseldorf to spend with my friend Michael Heinemann. Then we go to Leipzig where we have scheduled a lunch & tour at Porsche in that location in Saxony. We fly out of Berlin on Tuesday, July 28th to the Italian island of Sardinia. There we join our neighbor from Carmel who has graciously invited us on a charter yacht that we board at Porto Cervo. And then we cruise around Corsica & Sardinia for one week. We fly to London from Olbia on July 6th and arrive back in Carmel on August 7th. The following week is the 'Monterey Historics'. We are going to be exhausted!

So bear with me as I make time during the next few weeks to complete this ongoing 'blog' of this visit to Porsche & Germany!

Motor Yacht. Not too big. Just 47 meters (153 ft long).

sweet! you going to love it. and it looks like she has Stabilizers which matters a lot if weather doesn't cooperate. i'll be on a slightly bigger one in Adriatic in a week -- good to see we synchronized our yachting trips
