Got pulled over in the GT3 this evening..quess why???
Finally, after 4 weeks in the garage due to horrible ice, snow and salt none stop in the middle atlantic area, I got to drive my 6 week old GT3. 20 miles into my 45 mile ride a police officer going the opposite direction in a quiet out of the way town does a quick U-turn and pulls me over. You quessed it- no front tag, which is required in the Peoples Republic of Maryland. Seeing as I had just put the permenant tabs on today, he gave me warning said next time there would be a fine. I never had front tabs on any of my 4 previous Porsches and 2 previous Ferraris- never was pulled over once!!! So do I roll the dice and hope I don't get pulled over or at least not too often or use one of the none drilling license brackets?? I hate the look of the front tags on nice looking sports cars. Any opinions would be appreciated..

Don't do it, take your chances! Otherwise you will always cringe when you see the plate on the front of your car.
Post a pic! Can't get enough!

Cops are becoming jerks on the front plate where required.
They need it in order to shoot laser, so that is why they really want it on your car.
Small town cops (as you know) are just looking for any reason to pull ANYONE over--especially high end cars.
It's pathetic that we have to put a front plate in many states (TX included), but it's a dice roll.
For me after the first ticket I will put it on--until then--f them.

We have them in Ontario too, but as a European I am used to front tags. Evidently universal in Germany where they make Porsches, so not too bothered by the look.

I live in Maryland as well and my record was 3 tickets in 1 month. Since then I have only received 1 in the last 3 years <knocking on wood>. The cop that pulled me over actually came back laughing and said he was going to give me a warning on the tag but had no choice. Oh and nice car. I had an Aston at the time.
My vote is pay the tax and keep the tag off. Think of it as donating money to the troops or "I live in Maryland tax".

In Nevada we have an easy out:
Front plates are optional only if 1) the vehicle was not designed for a front plate and 2) the manufacturer did not provide an add-on bracket or other means of displaying the front plate. (NRS 482.275)

So far everyone says roll the dice. Again, I never had a ticket in over 20 years but perhaps they are being more diligent about more recently. I think my gt3 gets far more attention than the Boxster so this doesn't help. Also the gt3 is so comfortable I want to drive it all the time now that the weather is turning!!!
