How is it fun to have spent 150K on a brand new car and not being able to activate its most desirable feature?!
All in the name of resale value down the road in 20 years...?

I guess anything is possible. However, if one wanted to keep it that way a complete new panel would need to be purchased. Assuming the owner intends to utilize the sport buttons at some point in the future.

I'm interested to see what the dealer says.

On a side note I saw a car go through a GM plant with an open lamination, you could see through it, on the quarter panel into the dog leg, door jamb. Someone had to load the panel at assembly for the body in white and then it had to go through every step of the build including paint. The car was held by the person applying the window sticker. GM wanted the steel supplier to pay for the car and have it crushed. A deal was worked out where the panel was repaired and the car put into a fleet. I had a lot of fun discussing that one over a few beers with the steel rep.

Lets hope this is just a matter of buttons because if it's missing wires is going to be a real headache... Dont worry you are under Porsche warranty and as we all know, they will make everything in their power to solve your issue, they had already to many problems with replacing 2014's gt3 engines...
Good luck.

Why would that matter? In the 997 it did, but not in this gen GT3. One only gets the clock and the track apps by adding the SC.

I would be amazed if the wires aren't already in place.

Only way wires would be missing is if they used the wrong bus harness....never would have happened. Wiring is there they just didn't install the button.

This would be logical since the GT3 is the only current 991 with the different ESC and TC buttons. With this said, this error is not logical. Sorry to the OP for this headache on what should be his golden period with the vehicle.

Of course its not logical, it was a simple mistake....one that shouldn't have happened but a mistake. Listen, this is small compared to some production lines....my wife wanted a new Chevy Tahoe and when we went to the dealership we found one on the lot new that had a GMC yukon front grill and logos????? The best part was it had just arrived and as usual the dealership didn't even realize it until we happened to have pointed it out? That was the last GM product I ever looked at.

It shouldn't matter with any GT3, 997 or otherwise; this one included. I passed on SC with my .2 but still had the sport button. I know many 991s were delivered this way as well. However, I would like to know that things didn't change and now we need The stupid clock to get what the should have anyway. I bet this was a simple mistake but it may be cause for concern. We'll see...

The console is just a CAN bus network device. Same harness for all cars. Each key just sends a code to the gateway for controlling the different computers. It's all a network, not like the old days.

This is the PDK sport button. Not an option with your 997.

Thought it was just a sport button. I hope they don't require SC to get the button from here on. PDK sport button or not.

While at the dealer make them check that they didn't give you a C4S with a wing. Make sure it has the GT3 3.8 engine, too.
