Value of non-turbo 458 just went up. Used 458 Speciale on the shopping list.

Sad indeed.

Should focus on lower weight, high revs, and the fun factor.

Also the F430 Scudaria value should be up as it is one of the hard core and raw Ferrari. Its clunky and aggressive which adds to the car character and will be missed in few years.

Is the F40 considered undesirable? Just curious....

If we are talking about driving and not collecting or selling, absolutely! The current 458 will outperform the F40 in any category while being also more comfortable and useable. For collectors, then of course the F40 because it is rarer and worth a lot more, but I think this thread is about the driving between the 458 and a turbocharged variant of it, so we are talking about the "driving" part of a car.

I like my naturally aspirated 9000 redline engine!

I dropped my Speciale at the dealership today for new brake pads and tires. The sales guy threw me the keys of the new California T to try out for the afternoon. I must admit that I never drove the old California, but the power delivery of this engine is rather nice. The throttle response is very good (for a turbo) and the sound not too shabby either. But some of the Ferrari's unique factor (that noise) has been drastically reduced, which is very sad. So I'm going to hold onto my Speciale for a long, long time... or potentially swap it for a Speciale Spider.

same feeling on my side. the calit T has very good power delivery and super mid-range torque (as expected). sound....hmmm, it beats all the turbo cars i have driven so far (i.e. it puts the P turbo S to shame) but the sound is worse than the original cali (although the cali T is the better car in all other ways).
what to do? GT3 (RS)? 458S? M458T? choices....

The gremlins at Maranello have apparently masqueraded the worst aspects of blown engines with their Variable Boost Management system. Can't do much about the noise, but linearity in throttle response seems to have been dialed into that turbo-charged engine.

I think the ability to manage the negative aspects of turbos is going to get better and better. Should be interesting.
