Thanks for stepping up. It was just shocking to read...

One second turbo lags and "failure to shoot the gaps in traffic"? How misinformed and ancient. Go drive a DCT turbo car. A thing of beauty.

If you love engine symphony and great power, get normally aspirated.

If you want crushing impressive power and acceleration get a turbo.

If you are rich, get both.

I've never purchased a porsche before, so I'm a first timer, and a regular joe to dealers. What are the chances ill get an allocation for an RS at Msrp? Will there be multiple rounds like the gt3 or just a single go around for allocations? I wanted to see the differences, including price before deciding between the two. I'm probably too late, in which case ill hope for a gen 2.

I would guess that you lost out on both. Not sure if a European delivery counts against a dealers allocation.

Placed a deposit with my dealer in Sept. Waiting to see, I expect like everyone else, to see what the car will really be.

nah.... i hear this all the time, but there is always a way to get an allocation... on something uber rare like the 4.0 maybe not, but they will make lots of RS cars... maybe you wont get one of the first, but you can still get one... at least that has been my experience in the past with "special" Porsche, AMG black series, Audi RS, etc.

i understand the RS will not have rear steering, to allow it entry to global race series, will that be missed ?

- will it be pdk only ?

- when do we hear more about it, or when is its official announcement ?

My guess is once the RS is released with sport seats with harness pass-throughs, the std GT3 will be able to be ordered with them--or at the least (read "most" expensive), they will be able to be ordered to retro-fit.

in fact, it is pretty convenient for the buyer: i have a confirmed allocation (the dealer's first and only one this year), which i shall take if i like the specs. if not, it is as if nothing had happened.
i guess the point from the dealer's side is that he shows to porsche that he has a buyer.
