I think if money not a concern go with the lift. Better to regret some thing you did than did not - not every case

The only complaints on past lifts were they were a little heavy and failed at times but this is a new updated version. You also do have the warranty

Agree on all counts, Jimmy. New lift adds only 15 pounds and is quicker to operate. The lip on the 991 GT3 is quite ridged and making solid contact risks more than just a $200 replacement part. You won't need it all the time, but sometimes when you do, you really do....

Agreed! Most people think of simple scraping, opposed to hard contact and the additional damage that can cause.
