Guys, get real - of course 7% isn't written in stone, its just a ball park figure. No matter what dyno you are using, when you are comparing a 911 with anything else, you'll see a lot less hp loss through the drivetrain.

My estimate is based on the fact that most 996 GT3s put down 355whp, 997.1 put down 380whp, and 997.2 put down 400hp, on a dynojet at SAE.

By comparison, an e90 M3 only puts down 350whp, a loss of 15%.

Again, this is just a simplification of relative drivetrain efficiencies.

The "To be released" figures for this car have me worried about getting a GT3 until I know what the final numbers are...

Again, this has more to do with the ratings of the motors than any differences in drivetrain losses.

For example, the BMW 1M is rated by BMW at 335 hp, yet we have numerous examples of it putting down ~330 hp to the wheels on dynojets, such as this test by inside line/ edmunds:

Should we assume the M3 has 17% driveline loss but the 1M has 1%? Or should we instead assume the manufacturer's figures are suspicious?

Or compare the dynos of a "380 hp" powerkit equipped Carrera with a "380 hp" 996 GT3. The inescapable conclusion is not that rear engined Porsches have magically low driveline losses. It's simply that the GT cars horses tend to run... larger... than most.

Pete, my conclusions have been observed from both GT and non-GT 911s. In any case, you're an intelligent individual, so you know, that whether the low observed losses are a result of Porsche's conservative power figures, or truly an efficient drivetrain, it still gives you a valuable reference point: you can expect a "475 hp" 991 to be "40 hp" stronger than a "435 hp" 997.2.

The results are amazing no doubt. Porsche is famous for understating numbers again and again...

**** when I took my 09 c4s at the strip (etown) I was expecting to see somewhere close to 12.4-12.5 secs based on magazine reviews.... I saw 12.0...

I am not surprised with the numbers...
