Default Car & Driver instrumented test of GT3

In November issue.

curb weight: 3197 lbs
wt distribution: 39.3% front, 60.7% rear

0-60 mph: 3.0 seconds
0-100 mph: 7.1 seconds
0-120 mph: 10.1 seconds

5-60mph: 3.9 seconds

1/4 mile: 11.2 seconds @ 126 mph

braking 70 mph to zero: 135 ft

200 ft skidpad: 1.12 g

pretty good considering the 700+hp F12 does it in 11.3 at 132.

and a full sec and 10mph faster than the Carrera.

For comparison, here are their results for the 2010 997GT3:

curb weight: 3280 lbs
wt distribution: 39.0% front, 61.0% rear

0-60 mph: 3.8 seconds
0-100 mph: 8.8 seconds
0-120 mph: 12.6 seconds

5-60mph: 4.8 seconds

1/4 mile: 12.1 seconds @ 118 mph

braking 70 mph to zero: 145 ft

200 ft skidpad: 0.94 g

C/D TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 3.3 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 6.6 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 10.4 sec
Zero to 150 mph: 14.4 sec
Street start, 5–60 mph: 4.3 sec
Top gear, 30–50 mph: 7.8 sec
Top gear, 50–70 mph: 6.3 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 11.1 sec @ 133 mph
Top speed (redline limited, C/D est): 209 mph
Braking, 70–0 mph: 145 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 1.07

As some of us suspected/hoped, in real life it is actually LIGHTER than previous gen GT3 (not RS), and by 80+lbs at that! The weight distribution is also practically perfect now - mid-engine car territory, within 2-3% of 458 and MP12C. The acceleration numbers are unreal - I do not think PDK or launch control, no matter how good, can explain that. Probably a well-underrated engine...

After buying my first Porsche today, I did not expect another piece of Porsche good news :-)
