Default Dario Franchitti places order for 991 GT3

Heres an interesting read from EVO magazine by Dario Franchitti who has just placed and order for the 991 GT3 having never driven it. Hes a hard core MT Porsche guy too and knows how to change gears himself so I guess maybe its not so bad afterall?

There are a couple of other surprises in the ownership stakes that will come to light shortly too.

Enjoy 991 GT3 fans!

Choose one:

Dario is on PAG's board of directors.

He's just an ex racer turned pseudo journalist with suspect credibility.

Kool Aide drinker.

He's buddies with Chris Harris. Maybe even Pete Stout.

$150,000 publicity stunt by PAG.

And my favorite:

Dario can't drive. He should post his laptimes at Thunderhill.

But thanks for the article!

Thanks for sharing especially since I don't read car mags as much as I did during my younger years. Dario's perspective is actually interesting, especially about his preference on driving experience over outright horsepower, speed, etc. I feel the same way; I believe a lot of car guys in sites I visit (such as Rennlist, Fchat) feel the same way.

Frayed. This is so funny had me in stitches!

Where are all our naysayer friends or did you head them off at the pass with your email above?

Personally I think Dario was paid to say this from Porsche, but they probably threw in a PAG directorship as a deal maker. I think I heard he called Chris harris immediately he had tested it for his advise and Chris said as hes ordering one Dario should too. He knows his credibility is questionable these says and his confidence in racing is wavering so he decided the PDK-S GT3 would be ok....especially in PTS Pink.....

LOL!

Haha.

No, I don't think so. The naysayers will come around. They always do. I'm hopeful to read better material this time around, however.

Its like Walking Dead LOL.

This one had me double up and almost a coronary.

"Dario can't drive. He should post his laptimes at Thunderhill...."

I can actually visualize the likely posters avatar now. I think his name is Champ too! Maybe they are related....

Well done Dario. A small piece of sense amongst a sea of closed mind rubbish.

Yip. Its gone quiet for sure. Buy as Frayed said it wont last.

We forgot one of the key ones someone just reminded me on another board. "Now your girlfriend will be quicker than you around the race track!". lol!

Not is we are both driving a 991 GT3 she wont!

I've come across a good few across the forums that are now frantic to try and get an allocation after knocking the car for the last 4 months. One of them bumped into a Porsche development engineer he went to Varsity with at an airport while on a business trip a few weeks ago and by the end of the conversation in the members lounge he was on the BB to try and find a dealer with an order.

I think in the end we will find Porsche will make no more than maybe 2000 of these cars. They are having capacity issues with too many new releases at once. You will also find that EVERY review for the car will be glowing with the only negative point the lack of choice between MT and PDK. The true blue enthusiast journos alike CH, PS, Autosport, EVO etc will be the hardest to please with the MT thing but I think you'll find the mainstream motoring press with vote it Sport Car of the Year etc as they wont have the MT thing on their shoulder...

Tend to agree Macca.

The central focus of the most influential motoring press will be lamenting the apparent passing of the MT in the iconic torchbearer of the MT. If, and that's a big IF for many people, you can look past that issue it's dynamic tour de force. As Pete Stout stated, an 11 out of 10. It's a gamble for PAG but I think they are on the winning side of the equation.

BTW what did the Porsche engineer say to have this fellow change his opinion of the car?
