I test my oil after every change with no indications at this time that will indicates a problem. This is a great question and one I hope to get some feedback on. I personally do not use Mobil 1 as I feel it is inferior to Liqui- Moly or Motul. I would also love to know the percentage of failures of those using Mobil 1.

What metals in our engines are linked to failure? Coming from e92 M3 BMW lead was a big one and clear indication. Just curious about P and 991 GT cars

You know I have an "F" motor which stands for, well you know. Fortunately, my life is so much more enjoyable now and while my car has zero track days it does now have almost 46,000 miles. I spend a lot of time above 5,000 rpm. Zero engine issues so far. Religious about dealer recommended oil changes. All Mobil One 0-40 euro blend.

The reason for the comments are that I don't spend much time on Rennlist but I thought I'd continue to share mileage achievements so that guys ( and gals ) can feel confident purchasing these cars, .1's etc.

I used the be the guy who waited for the new model to arrive.. iPhone, computer, new model car etc. Now I live for today and start enjoying now and don't look back at missing out waiting for a 4.0 liter etc.

Just buy these cars and enjoy them. Say a little thank you to the COG and tell them thank you whenever you get a chance.

When I bought my car last year an oil change was done by the dealer with the regular Mobil 1 0-40W. I like to change my oil after either 3K miles or 4 track days so I just did that, going to my preferred Motul 8100 05-40W Attached is my first Blackstone analysis for my .1 GT3 with the Mobil 1 and I have to say it is the best report I have seen to date given the track days/mileage compared to my previous cars: Cayman R, GT4, GTS. I still have the original F motor so I guess I have mixed feelings about the report LOL.

My "F" motor with 9500 miles just failed. AFAIK, about 50 track miles. New one on the way.

Depends on the dealer's familiarity with the issue. It wasn't a known thing at mine so it took 6 weeks as they had to exhaust all other possibilities before deciding a new motor was needed.

I just put 300 fun miles on my new motor this weekend and so far so good! Gotta thank Rob and the CoG for helping make this happen. In hindsight I would ask about getting the air filters replaced. I didn't so I'm not sure if I need to replace mine as it also had about 9500 miles on the chassis. If not, it would be a good time to get some OEM or BMC filters while it's all out.

Any info about the engines production number? Produced before or after March 2015?

50 miles? Was that your first time out with the car?

I just bought the car used, CPO from Cincinnati. Prior owner did not track the car. CEL on 3rd 25 min session at Mid Ohio, misfire on cylinder 6. Dealership had car for 6 days before they concluded it needed a new motor. They went through the Porsche protocol for this issue. Germain of Ann Arbor is excellent. This is my 5th Porsche, so I've had a lot of experience with them.
