Interesting dealer story
My friend and I received allocations ordered GT3T at about the same time. this fall. He had a lot of options (60k) including CXXX stuff. His car is now on the boat.
I picked up my car this Saturday after it arrived on Friday. My friend got an interesting call today from his salesperson telling him that Porsche authorizes dealers to put as many as 120 "test" miles on a new vehicle before delivery.....and that his car may get "tagged" by Porsche for the test mile run.
Has anyone every heard of this? Is there any way to confirm this with PCNA? Should my friend call PCNA and inquire? Or is this just total bull?
I know that I would not allow anyone to drive my brand new car for which I paid dearly...
When I picked my car up...the dealership"s first touring....... everyone was literally drooling over the car....I was told there were several people just wanting to take pics of it.....I am so glad that I picked it up immediately so my car was not "picked".
I would really like to hear what others think.....
Thanks in advance....

I've heard some get tagged to drive/test but this is at the factory. I'd be suspicious too of any one at the dealership putting 120 miles on my brand new car!

Never heard of such a thing.
Smells like massive BS to me.
Some cars have more mileage from the factory, but once it hits the dealer, it should not be driven.
Have your friend call their bluff - have him ask the dealer for the PCNA contact so he can discuss it with them.
Or ask CJ. He would certainly know.

Dealership doesn't need to tag it to drive it, they can just throw on dealer tags like they do for every test drive.

^This for sure. My car had 5 miles at delivery. However, I have had other new cars delivered with far higher miles but they came with those miles from the factory. The dealer drives these "ordered" cars to move them around the dealership's property and that's about it.

CJ might know the answer
I'd like to be in the passenger seat when they "test" my car

Maybe CJ will check this thread.....
Just to be clear...the car has not arrived so no one has had a chance to drive it....he is trying to prevent that from happening....

If that is Porsche policy, that is incredibly dumb. Let some a** hat at a dealer take a high performance car for a 100+ mile flogging. Yeah, nothing bad can happen there....

Porsche doesn't authorized dealers to do "test miles or drives", specially on custom ordered cars. If anything, they might get selected and be tested at factory. Even then, I highly doubt PAG would allow this to be done in a highly optioned car. My GT3T had over $47k in options including some CXX. When I picked it up it only had 8 miles on it. I drove it for 10 before signing paperwork, so shows 18 on title. Your friend can track the ship and time the arrival of the car (within the day) to the dealer through the person he dealt with a PCNA/Exclusive for all the CXX options. I would also recommend telling the dealer to not wash it, only take off the required stickers and have his own detailing guy do the first wash, etc(paint correction, PPF, and Ceramic).

120 miles? That's more than I drive in a year!
What is the name of this dealership so that we may vigorously mock and shame it?
I suggest you have your friend make it clear that once the car gets delivered he wants a pic of the odo and it is allowed to travel exactly .001 of a mile from the truck to the service department to do the service pdi only. At this point I would ask them to keep all inside and outside stickers and protective covers in place ... you want a detailer to do that anyway lest they ruin the paint in their car wash and their mucky hands.
Honestly this is complete BS and I would have none of it ... if they insist I would have your friend contact PCNA asap to prevent it.
Personally after being told this I would be there when the car gets offloaded to make sure of the mileage.
