991.2 GT3 Windshield failure?
Just replaced my third windshield this DE season. The cracks all started around the area in front of the center rear view mirror. Any one else have this experience. Also the replacement windshield were hard and sometimes impossible to obtain from Porsche. Were a lot of windshields broken or is this a supply chain issue for Porsche?

Haven't heard of an issue. Had the windshield replaced on my 981 not that long ago without issue in getting a replacement from the dealer. Which windshield you need will depend on options. If you have the dimming mirrors then that windshield has the mount pre-attached for the sensor. The windshields are the same for 981/991's. Maybe check the 991 forum.

If you've gone through 3 windshields on a brand new car, something's amiss.

I go through at least one windshield a year. Every Porsche I have gotten has gotten a crack or chip in the windshield within the first 3 weeks of ownership. Without exception.

That doesn’t sound right.

The Cup cars tend to crack windshields when the tubs are stressed enough (not a rock or chip impact to the windshield) - but this is not that uncommon to hear of windshield's cracking from stress. Not familiar with the 991.2 Cup as much but this is a great indicator on a 991.1 when the tub is stressed and flexing enough that the windshield is cracking. Wondering is this is something that could be going on with the .2's when they are getting tracked/driven hard and stressed?

this.....if OP is going through lots of windshields and they are all cracking in same area its likely you are getting stress cracks from chassis flex.

I have heard of this issue on 911.1 gt3.
Some cars in Russia, where you have poor pavement, had this issue.

I have two customers with multiple windshields in their 991.2 car's that did not experience this in their 991.1's. One of them is on his 3rd front window and his second rear rear window. Supply on the glass is terrible from both Porsche and the independents.

Add another one here. Tiny little rock hit windshield with only 1500 miles and immediate crack 1/3 of way across the windshield. Barely made a sound. Usually chip/crack causing rocks are LOUD as hell.
Do these have thin/weaker windshields or something for weight?
Insurance is going to pay for it (after a $500 deductible) but that's a pain. Have folks gone with Safelite or anything like that?
