My 3RS has the Dunlop’s not the Cup 2s. Should I ask them to switch tires to the Cup

My .2 GT3 came with Dunlops and they are a good tire. I too was a little disappointed when I picked my car up but from a little research it seemed they are very good tire and mostly equal to the Michelin. I would not be concerned at all after running through my first set of tires.

My 2RS came with dunlops and was initially disappointed. But I have been thoroughly impressed with them.. Was on a wet mtn run the other day and they almost never lost grip. Pretty good for 700HP and RWD on tight, wet sloping roads! I may stick with them for my next set.

I had a set of Dunlops on my GT4. They were great on track. My .2RS also has them. I tried get the rear to step out a little bit the other day in the wet and it didn't budge. I would be totally happy with either. Also my dealer probably would have slapped me if I asked them to swap tires.

The sport cups suck in the rain.

I had one GT3 with Cup 2's and one with Dunlops. Did track time on both. As stated, the Dunlop is a fine tire. Clearly more grip in wet, and equal grip in dry, if not more. I can't really speak to wear. From what I experienced it's a good tire. No reason at all to switch them before they need replacement.

I have Dunlops on my GT3 and had them on my GT4 as well..I find them a great tyre and particularly good in the wet so no worries mate..You live in New York after all where you get plenty of wet days.

The first set of tires I had were the Dunlops. I liked them a lot. Super grippy and better in the rain. The sidewalls on the new Cup 2's look bad imo. The Dunlops are more expensive too, so keep them. You may decide you like them better once you put the Cup 2's on.

Had Dunlops on my .2 GT3 and liked them a lot. Specifically, the turn in feel when driving aggressively on the twisting roads. It was much like slalom skiing; they are sliding but intentionally and with control. For me the cup 2s will break (slide out from under you) without much warning. I liked them so much bought a set of the Sport Maxx Race 2s for 991.1RS.
Now, for the track, I'm mainly a cup 2 guy. Haven't driven Dunlops on track.

I also liked my Dunlops on my .2 GT3 on the street (never tracked it). Good grip, low road noise, dunno about wear as I only put 2400 miles on them before tradein. I'm not sure if it's the lack of sound deadening in the RS, but the Michelins seem to have way more road noise.

Don't do it. Not only will they roll their eyes at you and think you're being a total pita, but you are wasting everyone's time including yours. The Dunlops are good tires. Arguably a touch faster than the cup2. They just don't last as long. I'd personally take the Dunlops over trofeoR as I hate the trofeo.
