Default Proud of my Son

My son was born with a heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot. At 2 months old he had his first surgery and 11 months old his second.

Some of you know him and let him drive their car - Thank you Peter! He still talks about it!

Last June, he had open heart surgery where they placed a pulmonary valve in the place where they removed the defective one before he was one.

Since his surgery last year, as soon as he was able to, he started training every day has competed in a couple of Spartan races. He's also preparing for his next event in 2 weeks. Nothing deters him from excelling at what he does.

I've been dragging him to DE events over the past 10 years or so and last November, he did a DE event at Roebling in his 2008 E92 M3. Did really well.

A couple months ago I took him down to Sebring so he could drive the 991.2 GT3 and I would be his instructor. We did a one day event and again, he did really well. So we went again for another day where he spent time in the novice group and moved through the pack. He made some misjudgments in some of his throttle application, but the PSM kicked in and kept him in check.

This past weekend, he got promoted to the Blue group (Intermediate) with Chin. While in the Novice group, he was passing everyone and didn't have to worry much about his mirrors, but now in the Blue group, he's at the bottom of the stack and suddenly has to learn how to manage traffic differently. He'll be working his way up in experience and skill with me in the passenger seat for some time.

Despite some of the setbacks and challenges he faces, he pushes himself to be better every day and I could not be more proud of him. He is humble, giving, respectful, and considerate.

Here are a few pics and video from his in car.

great story!

and things like this reminds me anytime - how easy it is in reality to grow a complete healthy baby and child. (even if it feels tough each day - but thats no comparison)
congrats!

can´t wait for my one(s) to grow up and start driving.

Congrats ! as you know promotion up the Chin ladder is only earned , not something that Mark's team hands out ***** nilly
surprised to see #98 not on the Smokies roster , that would certainly be a epic father and son occasion , one day .
